Safety Instructions
Always observe the following safety instructions to prevent injury or damage to the device and battery:
- Read the entire operating manual before first use.
- Ensure the charger is protected against reverse polarity, short circuit, and overload. The device has built-in protection mechanisms.
- Use the charger only in well-ventilated areas.
- Do not expose the charger to rain or moisture.
- Disconnect the charger from the mains before connecting or disconnecting the battery.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not attempt to charge frozen or damaged batteries.
- Ensure proper voltage selection (12V or 24V) for your battery type.
Setup
Before connecting the charger, ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and all electrical consumers are switched off. Follow these steps for proper setup:
- Connect the Charging Cables:
- Connect the red positive (+) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
- Connect the black negative (-) clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the battery. If charging a battery still in the vehicle, connect the negative clamp to the vehicle chassis away from the battery and fuel line.
- Connect Permanent Mounting Cable (Optional): The included accessory cable with U-shaped cable lugs and connector (approx. 40 cm long) can be used for permanent mounting to the battery terminals, providing a quick-connect option for the charger.

- Connect to Power Outlet: Plug the charger's power cable (approx. 2.20 m long) into a standard 220-240 V ~ 50-60 Hz electrical outlet.
- The LED display will illuminate, indicating the charger is ready for operation.
Operating Instructions
The ULGD 10 A1 features intelligent microprocessor control for optimal charging. Use the "MODE" button to select the desired program.
Charging Programs
The charger offers 8 selectable charging programs to adapt to various battery types and conditions. The LED display will show the selected program, current voltage, and charge status.
- Standard Charging: For typical 12V or 24V lead-acid batteries.
- Pulse Charging: Designed to revive deeply discharged batteries (for 12V batteries, if voltage is still >2V). This mode helps to desulfate the battery.
- Winter Charging Mode: Automatically adjusts charging parameters for optimal performance in low outdoor temperatures (-20 °C to +50 °C operating temperature range).
- Refer to the display and the full manual for specific program details and their corresponding icons.
Power Supply Programs
Two dedicated power supply programs are available to maintain voltage during battery replacement, preventing data loss in the vehicle's electronic systems.
Automatic Charging Process
Once a program is selected, the charger automatically diagnoses the battery and proceeds with the charging process. It will switch to maintenance charging once the battery is fully charged, preventing overcharging and sulfation.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Ultimate Speed® ULGD 10 A1 charger, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Disconnect the charger from the power outlet and the battery before cleaning. Wipe the housing with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the charger in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure cables are neatly coiled and not kinked.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cable and charging cables for any signs of damage, such as cuts or fraying. Do not use the charger if cables are damaged.
- Battery Terminals: Keep battery terminals clean and free of corrosion for efficient charging.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your charger, consider the following common solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Charger does not turn on. | No power supply; faulty outlet; damaged power cable. | Check power connection; try a different outlet; inspect power cable for damage. |
| Charging does not start. | Incorrect battery connection (reverse polarity); battery voltage too low; incorrect program selected. | Ensure correct polarity (+ to +, - to -); for very low voltage batteries, try pulse charging mode if voltage is >2V; select appropriate charging program. |
| Charger displays an error. | Short circuit; overload; internal fault. | Disconnect and re-connect the charger; ensure no short circuits; if problem persists, contact support. |
| Battery not fully charged. | Battery capacity too high for selected program; battery is old/damaged. | Ensure battery capacity is within 20-300 Ah range; consider battery replacement if it doesn't hold charge. |
If the issue persists after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
