5. Maintenance
Air Filter Maintenance:
Regular cleaning of the air filter is crucial for optimal engine performance and longevity. Clean the air filter in cleaning solvent and allow it to dry completely every 50 hours of operation, or more frequently in dusty conditions.
General Maintenance Tips:
- Oil Change: Change the engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation, then every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
- Spark Plug: Inspect and clean the spark plug every 100 hours. Replace if necessary.
- Fuel System: Ensure the fuel tank and lines are free of debris. Use fresh, clean gasoline.
- Storage: For long-term storage, drain the fuel tank and carburetor, or use a fuel stabilizer. Change the oil and clean the engine thoroughly.
6. Troubleshooting
Low Oil Automatic Shut-off:
The engine is equipped with a low oil sensor that will automatically shut down the engine if the oil level drops below a safe operating threshold. This is a protective feature to prevent engine damage. If the engine shuts off unexpectedly, check the oil level first and refill to the recommended level before attempting to restart.
Common Issues and Solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine will not start | No fuel, old fuel, low oil, spark plug issue, choke position incorrect | Check fuel level and quality, add fresh fuel. Check oil level. Inspect/clean/replace spark plug. Adjust choke lever. |
| Engine runs rough or loses power | Dirty air filter, stale fuel, carburetor issue, spark plug issue | Clean air filter. Drain old fuel and add fresh. Clean carburetor. Inspect/clean/replace spark plug. |
| Excessive smoke | Too much oil, wrong oil type, worn engine components | Check oil level and drain excess. Ensure correct oil type. Consult a qualified technician for internal issues. |
