4. Safety Instructions

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the tool's power switch is in the "OFF" position.
  2. Align the Jovant 20V battery pack with the battery port on the tool.
  3. Slide the battery pack into the port until it clicks securely into place.
  4. To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery pack out.

5.2 Loading Nails or Staples

The Jovant PTJ-010 supports both narrow crown staples and 18-gauge brad nails. Ensure you are using the correct fastener type and size for your project.

  1. Ensure the tool is disconnected from the battery for safety.
  2. Locate the magazine release latch, typically at the rear or bottom of the magazine.
  3. Pull the magazine open.
  4. Insert a strip of nails or staples into the magazine. For nails, the point should be close to the bottom. For staples, the crown should be close to the top.
  5. Push the magazine closed until it latches securely.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On and Off

  • To power on, slide the power switch to the "ON" position.
  • To power off, slide the power switch to the "OFF" position. Always power off the tool when not in use or when changing fasteners.

6.2 Adjusting Nail/Staple Depth

The depth adjustment knob allows you to control how deep the fastener is driven into the material. This is crucial for different material hardnesses and desired finishes.

  1. Locate the depth adjustment knob, typically on the top of the tool.
  2. Turn the knob in the "+" direction to increase the impact strength, driving fasteners deeper. This is recommended for harder materials like hardwood.
  3. Turn the knob in the "-" direction to reduce the impact strength, driving fasteners less deeply. This is suitable for softer materials or when a flush finish is desired.
  4. Test the depth setting on a scrap piece of material before beginning your project.

6.3 Firing the Tool

  1. With the battery installed and fasteners loaded, ensure the power switch is ON.
  2. Place the nose of the tool firmly against the workpiece where you want to drive the fastener. Ensure the safety nose pin is fully depressed.
  3. Squeeze the trigger to fire a fastener.
  4. Release the trigger and lift the tool from the workpiece.
