Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your sprayer before first use:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify that all components listed in the "Product Components" section are present.
  2. Attach Hose: Securely connect the hose to the pump outlet and the spray wand handle. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.
  3. Attach Spray Wand: Connect the spray wand to the trigger valve on the hose handle.
  4. Install Nozzle: Screw the desired nozzle onto the end of the spray wand. Ensure it is finger-tight.
  5. Adjust Backpack Straps: Attach the backpack straps to the designated points on the sprayer tank. Adjust the strap length for a comfortable and secure fit on your back.
  6. Position Pump Lever: Ensure the pump lever is correctly installed and moves freely. It can be adjusted for left or right-hand operation if applicable, or repositioned for storage.

Operation

Operating your SOLO 410 Backpack Sprayer:

  1. Prepare Solution: Mix your desired liquid solution according to the chemical manufacturer's instructions in a separate container.
  2. Fill Tank: Unscrew the tank lid and remove the filter basket. Carefully pour the prepared solution into the tank. Do not overfill beyond the maximum fill line. The large 4.75-inch opening facilitates easy filling.
  3. Replace Filter and Lid: Reinsert the filter basket and securely screw the tank lid back on. Ensure it is tight to prevent leaks and maintain pressure.
  4. Pressurize Sprayer: Place the sprayer on your back. Operate the pump lever repeatedly to build pressure inside the tank. The internal piston pump will also agitate the liquid during pumping, ensuring consistent mixing.
  5. Begin Spraying: Aim the spray wand at the target area. Squeeze the trigger valve on the wand handle to begin spraying. Adjust the nozzle to achieve the desired spray pattern (e.g., fine mist, stream).
  6. Maintain Pressure: Continue to pump the lever periodically during spraying to maintain consistent pressure and spray performance.
  7. Stop Spraying: Release the trigger valve to stop spraying.
  8. Release Pressure: After use, or before opening the tank, always release any remaining pressure by holding the spray wand over a safe area and squeezing the trigger until no more liquid is expelled.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your sprayer:

  1. Clean After Each Use:
    • Empty any remaining solution from the tank.
    • Rinse the tank thoroughly with clean water. Pump clean water through the hose and spray wand until all chemical residue is flushed out.
    • Clean the filter basket and nozzle with water and a soft brush.
  2. Inspect Components: Regularly check the hose, seals, and connections for any signs of wear, cracks, or leaks. Replace damaged parts immediately.
  3. Lubrication: Periodically lubricate the pump piston seals with silicone grease to ensure smooth operation and prevent wear.
  4. Winter Storage: If storing in freezing temperatures, ensure the sprayer is completely empty and dry to prevent damage from ice expansion.
  5. Long-Term Storage: Store the sprayer in a clean, dry, and cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Reposition the pump lever vertically to save space if desired.
