1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Mecity Electric Gooseneck Kettle, Model HB-3166M. This appliance is designed to provide precise temperature control for optimal brewing of various beverages, including coffee and tea. Its elegant design, combined with advanced features like an LCD display and safety mechanisms, ensures a convenient and reliable user experience. 2. Important Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  • Read all instructions.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or electric kettle in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off,” then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • The kettle is equipped with an automatic shut-off mechanism and anti-dry function for safety. It will turn off when the desired temperature is reached or if there is no water inside.
  • The handle and lid are designed to be heat resistant.

Components:

  • Gooseneck Spout: Designed for precise pour-over control.

    • MUTE (-): Decreases selected temperature. Press HOLD and (-) together to mute/unmute prompt tones.
    • F°/C° (+): Increases selected temperature. Press START/CANCEL and (+) together to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
    • START/CANCEL: Powers the kettle on/off.

4. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the kettle for any damage.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, fill the kettle with water to the MAX fill line. Boil the water, then discard it. Repeat this process 2-3 times to ensure the kettle is clean and free of any manufacturing residues.
  3. Placement: Place the heating base on a dry, flat, and stable surface away from the edge of the counter.
  4. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to operate your Mecity Electric Gooseneck Kettle:

  1. Fill Kettle: Remove the lid and fill the kettle with fresh, cold water. Do not fill below the MIN mark or above the MAX fill line.
  2. Place on Base: Securely place the kettle onto the heating base. Ensure the lid is properly closed.
  3. Power On: Press the START/CANCEL button once to turn on the kettle. The LCD display will illuminate.
  4. Select Temperature: Use the (+) and (-) buttons to adjust the desired target temperature. The temperature range is 100°F to 212°F (38°C to 100°C).
  5. Start Heating: Once the desired temperature is set, press the START/CANCEL button again to begin heating. The heating icon will appear on the LCD.
  6. Temperature Hold Function: To activate the temperature hold function, press the HOLD button. The kettle will maintain the set temperature for up to 2 hours.
  7. Mute Mode: To mute or unmute the kettle's prompt tones, press and hold the HOLD and (-) buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
  8. Fahrenheit/Celsius Toggle: To switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius display, press and hold the START/CANCEL and (+) buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
  9. Pouring: Once the water reaches the set temperature, carefully lift the kettle from the base and pour. The gooseneck spout allows for controlled pouring.
  10. Automatic Shut-Off: The kettle will automatically turn off once the set temperature is reached or if it detects no water inside (anti-dry protection).
  11. Power Off: To manually turn off the kettle, press and hold the START/CANCEL button for 3 seconds.

  • Infant Formula: 115°F (46°C)

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your kettle and ensure optimal performance.

Cleaning:

  1. Unplug: Always unplug the kettle from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the kettle and heating base with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  3. Interior: The kettle interior is made of food-grade 304 stainless steel. For general cleaning, rinse the interior with water. For stubborn stains, use a soft brush or sponge with mild dish soap. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Do Not Immerse: Never immerse the kettle body or the heating base in water or any other liquid.

Descaling:

Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the kettle over time, especially in hard water areas. Descale your kettle regularly to maintain efficiency.

  • Fill the kettle with a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar (or a commercial descaling agent according to its instructions).
  • Bring the solution to a boil and let it stand for at least 30 minutes, or longer if the scale is heavy.
  • Empty the kettle and rinse thoroughly with fresh water several times.
  • Boil fresh water in the kettle and discard it before using for beverages.

Cord Storage:

The power cord can be wrapped around the base for tidy storage when not in use, helping to keep your countertop organized.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your kettle, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
