Follow these steps to properly set up your Alesis Nitro Max 8 Inch Single-Zone Mesh Tom Pad.
2.1 Attaching the L-Rod to the Pad
- Locate the L-Rod and the Alesis 8 Inch Mesh Single-Zone Drum Pad.
- Insert the shorter, threaded end of the L-Rod into the mounting bracket on the underside of the drum pad.
- Tighten the wing nut on the pad's mounting bracket to secure the L-Rod. Ensure it is firm but do not overtighten.

- Insert the longer, unthreaded end of the L-Rod (with the attached drum pad) into the L-Rod receiver on the rack clamp.

2.3 Connecting the Trigger Cable
- Take the Silverline Audio 10ft Trigger Cable.
- Insert one end of the 1/4-inch (6.35mm) trigger cable into the output jack located on the underside of the drum pad (refer to Image 2.1).
- Insert the other end of the trigger cable into an available trigger input on your electronic drum module. Consult your drum module's manual for specific input assignments.
2.4 Tuning the Mesh Head (Optional)
While mesh heads do not require tuning for pitch like acoustic drums, adjusting the tension can affect the feel and rebound. Use the included drum key to adjust the tension rods around the perimeter of the mesh head. Turn each rod incrementally and evenly to achieve your preferred playing feel. Do not overtighten.

3. Operating the Drum Pad
Once the drum pad is set up and connected to your electronic drum module, it is ready for use.
- Playing: Strike the mesh head with drumsticks as you would an acoustic drum. The mesh head provides a natural feel and rebound.
- Sound Generation: The pad acts as a trigger, sending a signal to your drum module. The module then produces the assigned sound.
- Module Settings: Refer to your electronic drum module's manual for instructions on assigning sounds, adjusting sensitivity, and other parameters for the connected pad. This will allow you to customize the response and sound of your new tom pad.
4. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your drum pad.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the mesh head and the pad's body. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish or mesh material.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the drum pad in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Cable Care: Avoid kinking or sharply bending the trigger cable. Store it neatly to prevent damage.
- Mesh Head Tension: Periodically check the tension of the mesh head. If it feels too loose or too tight, adjust it evenly with the drum key as described in Section 2.4.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your drum pad, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Sound or Intermittent Sound:
- Ensure the trigger cable is securely connected to both the drum pad and the drum module.
- Try using a different trigger cable to rule out a faulty cable.
- Verify that the correct input on your drum module is selected and assigned to a sound.
- Check the sensitivity settings on your drum module for the corresponding input. It might be set too low.
- Unresponsive Pad:
- Confirm the pad is connected to a compatible drum module.
- Inspect the mesh head for any visible damage or tears.
- Ensure the L-Rod and clamp are securely fastened, preventing excessive movement that could affect triggering.
- Pad Movement on Rack:
- Tighten all wing nuts on the rack clamp and L-Rod bracket.
- Ensure the clamp is correctly sized for your drum rack post (1 1/8 inch).
If problems persist after attempting these steps, consult your drum module's manual or contact customer support.
