5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Non-Destructive Measurement

The spherical probe allows for non-invasive moisture detection. The measuring depth is between 5mm and 40mm (approximately 2 inches) below the surface.

  1. Ensure the device is calibrated (refer to Section 4.2).
  2. Place the spherical probe directly onto the surface of the material you wish to measure.
  3. The device will display the moisture reading on the HD color screen.

5.2 Visual Humidity Alert (Three-Color Indicator)

The meter provides a visual indication of moisture levels using a three-color analog bar on the display:

  • Green (DRY): Indicates low moisture content.
  • Yellow (RISK): Indicates moderate moisture content, suggesting potential risk.
  • Red (WET): Indicates high moisture content, signifying a wet condition.
Three images of the Proster moisture meter display showing different moisture readings with corresponding DRY (green), RISK (yellow), and WET (red) indicators, along with a table for moisture level thresholds for plaster, cement-based materials, and wood.

5.3 Data Hold Function

To freeze the current measurement on the screen:

  • While taking a measurement, press the "MEAS" button briefly. The "HOLD" icon will appear on the screen.
  • Press the "MEAS" button again to exit the hold function and resume live measurements.

The device also records the maximum (MAX) and minimum (MIN) moisture values detected during a measurement session, displayed below the main reading.
