3. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and safety of your range hood. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified professional.
3.1 Pre-Installation Checklist
- Verify all components are present and undamaged.
- Ensure the installation area meets electrical and structural requirements.
- Determine whether to install as ducted or ductless.
- Confirm ceiling height. The hood fits ceilings up to 9 feet. An extension kit (sold separately) is required for 10-foot ceilings.
3.2 Ducted vs. Ductless Installation
The WM-530 can be installed in two configurations:
- Ducted: Air is exhausted outside through a 6-inch round duct. This method provides the most effective removal of smoke and odors.
- Ductless (Recirculating): Air is filtered through charcoal filters and recirculated back into the kitchen. This is suitable when external venting is not possible. Charcoal filters are included for this purpose.

3.3 Mounting the Range Hood
- Mark the mounting points on the wall according to the installation template (not included, but recommended to create one).
- Install the mounting bracket securely to the wall studs or using appropriate anchors.
- Carefully lift the range hood and hang it onto the mounting bracket. This step typically requires two people.
- Connect the electrical wiring according to local codes.
- For ducted installations, connect the 6-inch round ductwork to the exhaust adapter. For ductless, ensure charcoal filters are installed (see Section 5.2).
- Install the chimney covers. When reattaching the bottom cover after mounting, carefully align the screw holes to ensure a secure fit.
- Ensure proper orientation of the damper during installation to allow for correct airflow.

- Carefully slide out the grease cup.
- Empty collected grease and wash the cup with warm, soapy water.
- Ensure the cup is dry before reinserting it.
5.4 Exterior Cleaning
Clean the exterior surfaces with a soft cloth and mild, non-abrasive detergent. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that can damage the finish.
