3. Setup and Installation

This device is designed for in-wall installation and requires hardwired connections, including a neutral wire. If you are unsure about any part of these instructions, consult a qualified electrician.

Installation Steps:

  1. Turn Off Power: Before beginning, turn OFF the power to the circuit at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
  2. Remove Old Outlet: Carefully remove the existing wall plate and outlet from the wall box.
  3. Identify Wires: Identify the Line (Hot), Neutral, and Ground wires. A neutral wire is required for this device.
  4. Wire Connections: Connect the wires to the new Enbrighten Smart Receptacle according to the wiring diagram. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
    • Line (Hot) wire to the Line terminal.
    • Neutral wire to the Neutral terminal.
    • Ground wire to the Ground terminal.
  5. Mount Outlet: Carefully push the wired outlet into the wall box. Secure it with the mounting screws.
  6. Attach Faceplate: Attach the desired quick-change faceplate (white or light almond) to the outlet. Wallplate sold separately.
  7. Restore Power: Turn the power back ON at the circuit breaker.

Z-Wave Pairing:

  1. Add Device to Hub: Follow your Z-Wave hub's instructions to add a new device.
  2. Initiate Pairing: Press the button on the smart receptacle to initiate the pairing process. Refer to your hub's manual for specific pairing modes (e.g., inclusion, SmartStart).
  3. Confirmation: The hub will confirm successful pairing. The LED indicator on the outlet may change status.

4. Operation

Once installed and paired with your Z-Wave hub, the Enbrighten Smart Receptacle can be controlled locally or remotely.

Local Control:

  • The Z-Wave controlled outlet can be manually turned ON/OFF by pressing the small button located between the two outlets.
  • The always-on outlet provides continuous power for traditional use and is not controlled by Z-Wave or the button.

Remote Control (via Z-Wave Hub):

  • Use your Z-Wave hub's mobile application or web interface to turn the Z-Wave controlled outlet ON/OFF from anywhere.
  • Set schedules, timers, and create custom scenes for automated control of connected devices.
  • Integrate with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant through your Z-Wave hub for hands-free control.
