- OTDR: Optical Time Domain Reflectometer for fiber characterization.
- OPM: Optical Power Meter for measuring optical power.
- OLS: Optical Light Source for providing stable light.
- Server: For data transfer and remote access.
- VFL: Visual Fault Locator for identifying fiber breaks and bends.
- File: For managing saved test data.
- Help: Access to on-device help and guides.
- System: Device settings and configurations.
5.3 OTDR Function
The OTDR function is used to characterize fiber optic cables. Follow these steps:
- From the main menu, tap the 'OTDR' icon.
- Set Parameters: Access the settings to configure wavelength (1310nm or 1550nm), range (e.g., 32km, 128km), pulse width, and test mode (Auto/Manual).

Figure 4: OTDR Settings Interface
- Perform Test: Once parameters are set, initiate the test. The device will send light pulses into the fiber and analyze the reflected signals.
- Analyze Results: The test results will be displayed as a graphical curve and an Event Map. The curve shows attenuation and reflection events along the fiber, while the Event Map provides a simplified, icon-based view of these events.
