6. Operating Instructions

Setting the Temperature:

  1. The external digital controller displays the current water temperature (Curr. Temp) and the set temperature (Set Temp).
  2. To adjust the set temperature, press the "+" button to increase the temperature or the "-" button to decrease it. Each press adjusts the temperature by 1°F.
  3. The temperature range is typically between 59°F (15°C) and 93°F (34°C). If you press below 59°F or above 93°F, the setting will cycle back to the other end of the range.
  4. When the current water temperature is below the set temperature, the display will flash, indicating the heater is actively heating.
  5. Once the set temperature is reached, the display will stop flashing, indicating the heater is maintaining a constant temperature and has stopped heating.

7. Maintenance

  • Regularly inspect the heater for any signs of damage, such as cracks in the glass or frayed cords. Discontinue use immediately if damage is found.
  • Periodically clean the heater's protective guard to prevent algae or debris buildup, which can hinder heating efficiency. Always unplug the heater and allow it to cool before cleaning.
  • Use a soft brush or cloth to gently remove any deposits. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Ensure the heater remains fully submerged during operation. Check water levels regularly.

8. Troubleshooting

The digital controller provides error codes to help diagnose issues:

Error CodeDescriptionAction
HHHigh Temperature Alarm: Current water temperature is higher than 93°F (34°C).The heater will stop heating. Check ambient room temperature and ensure proper water circulation. If the temperature remains high, consider reducing the set temperature or checking for external heat sources.
LLLow Temperature Alarm: Current water temperature is lower than 59°F (15°C).The heater will continue normal heating. Ensure the heater is adequately sized for your tank volume and ambient conditions. Check if the set temperature is appropriate.
E1Off-Water Cut-off Protection: Heater is not fully submerged (e.g., 2 inches away from the water surface). The heater will automatically cut off power to prevent dry burning. Immediately unplug the heater, allow it to cool, then re-submerge it completely and check water levels before plugging it back in.
