Setup
Placement
The RCF SUB 8003-AS MK3 is designed for Floor Standing placement. For optimal performance, position the subwoofer on a stable, flat surface. Avoid placing it directly against walls or in corners, which can lead to exaggerated or muddy bass. Experiment with placement to find the best acoustic response for your environment.
Connections
The subwoofer uses XLR for audio connectivity and is a Wired system. Ensure all audio cables are securely connected before powering on the unit.
- Connect the audio output from your mixer or audio interface to the XLR input on the SUB 8003-AS MK3.
- If connecting multiple subwoofers or full-range speakers, use the XLR output to daisy-chain to the next device.
- Connect the power cord to the AC power input on the rear panel and then to a suitable power outlet. The unit operates on Corded Electric power.
Initial Power On
Before powering on, ensure all volume controls are set to their minimum. Power on your audio source first, then the subwoofer. When powering off, reverse the order: subwoofer off first, then audio source.
Operating Instructions
Controls
The RCF SUB 8003-AS MK3 features Button controls and supports Voice control (if integrated with a compatible system, refer to specific voice control system documentation). The rear panel includes controls for gain, crossover frequency, and phase. Adjust these settings to integrate the subwoofer seamlessly with your main speakers.
- Gain Control: Adjusts the overall output level of the subwoofer. Start with a low setting and gradually increase.
- Crossover Frequency: Determines the frequency point at which the subwoofer handles low frequencies, while frequencies above this point are sent to your main speakers. Common settings range from 80 Hz to 120 Hz.
- Phase Switch: Allows you to invert the phase of the subwoofer's output (0° or 180°). Adjust this to ensure the subwoofer's output is in phase with your main speakers for optimal bass response.
Audio Output Mode
The subwoofer operates in Stereo audio output mode, processing the low-frequency content from both left and right channels.
Power Levels
The unit has 10 Power Levels, allowing for fine adjustment of output power. Always ensure the power level is appropriate for the venue and connected equipment to prevent damage.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your RCF SUB 8003-AS MK3.
- Cleaning: Disconnect the power cord before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings are clear of dust and debris. Proper airflow is crucial for preventing overheating.
- Storage: If storing the subwoofer for an extended period, keep it in a dry, temperature-controlled environment, ideally in its original packaging or a protective cover.
- Inspection: Periodically check all cables and connections for wear or damage.
