1. Important Safety Instructions
Read all safety warnings and instructions before operating this hedge trimmer. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Keep all warnings and instructions for future reference.
1.1 General Power Tool Safety
- Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection when necessary. Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool.
1.2 Hedge Trimmer Specific Safety
- Keep Hands Away From Blades: Do not attempt to remove cut material or hold material to be cut when blades are moving. Ensure the trimmer is switched off when clearing jammed material.
- Guard Against Unintentional Starting: Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to a battery pack, picking up or carrying the appliance.
- Use Both Hands: Operate the hedge trimmer with both hands. Losing control can result in serious personal injury.
- Maintain Firm Grip: Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces only, because the cutter blade may contact hidden wiring.
- Inspect Before Use: Before each use, inspect the hedge trimmer for damaged or loose parts. Do not operate if any part is damaged.
- Clear Work Area: Before starting, ensure no people or pets are within the working radius of the trimmer.
