Front Panel

Rear Panel

The rear panel provides all necessary ports for network connectivity and power:

  • WAN Ports: Two 1-Gigabit WAN ports for primary internet connections.

The B One 5G router offers advanced connectivity options including 5G Cellular, SpeedFusion for bandwidth bonding and hot failover, Wi-Fi 6, and Dual WAN capabilities. It also integrates with InControl 2 for remote management and InTouch for enhanced control.

4. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your Peplink B One 5G router for the first time:

  1. Step 1: Install Antennas. Screw the two dual-band Wi-Fi antennas onto the corresponding connectors on the router.
  2. Step 2: Insert SIM Card(s). If you plan to use 5G cellular connectivity, insert your activated 5G/LTE SIM card(s) into the cellular SIM slots on the front panel. Ensure the SIM cards are correctly oriented.
  3. Step 3: Connect Power. Connect the 12V 3A 4-pin power supply to the DC In port on the rear panel of the router, then plug the power adapter into a power outlet. The router will power on automatically.
  4. Step 4: Connect to the Internet (Primary WAN).
    • Ethernet WAN: Connect an Ethernet cable from your modem or existing network to one of the WAN ports (WAN 1 or WAN 2) on the router's rear panel.
    • USB WAN: If using a USB modem for WAN, connect it to the USB port.
  5. Step 5: Connect to the Router's Wi-Fi Network.
    • On your computer or mobile device, search for available Wi-Fi networks.
    • Locate the SSID (network name) printed on the bottom label of your router (e.g., 'Peplink_BOne5G_XXXX').
    • Enter the Wi-Fi password also found on the bottom label to connect.
  6. Step 6: Access the Web Admin Interface.
    • Open a web browser and navigate to the default IP address (usually 192.168.1.1).
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to set a new administrator password and configure your basic network settings.
  7. Step 7: Configure 5G Cellular (if applicable). If using 5G cellular, ensure your SIM card is active. The router should automatically detect the cellular network. You may need to configure APN settings if required by your carrier.

5. Operating Instructions

Dual WAN and Failover

The Peplink B One 5G is designed for high availability. It can utilize multiple internet connections simultaneously or switch between them automatically:

  • Primary Connection: Typically, your wired Ethernet WAN connection.
  • Backup Connection: The 5G cellular modem acts as a reliable backup.
  • Automatic Failover: If the primary WAN connection fails, the router automatically switches to the 5G cellular connection to maintain internet access without manual intervention.

Wi-Fi 6 Connectivity

The router supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for enhanced speed, capacity, and efficiency, especially in environments with many connected devices. It operates on dual bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) to provide flexible connectivity options for various devices.

Peplink Companion App

Manage and monitor your Peplink B One 5G router using the Peplink Companion App. The app allows you to:

  • View network status and connected devices.
  • Configure Wi-Fi settings and guest networks.
  • Monitor data usage for each WAN connection.
  • Access advanced features like SpeedFusion settings.

6. Maintenance and Care

  • Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and install firmware updates through the web admin interface or Peplink app to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features.
  • Cleaning: Keep the router clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid liquid cleaners.
  • Placement: Place the router in a central location, away from obstructions and other electronic devices that may cause interference. Ensure adequate ventilation to prevent overheating.
  • Power Cycle: If you experience network issues, try power cycling the router by unplugging it from the power source for 10 seconds, then plugging it back in.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Internet Connection:
    • Check if the WAN cable is securely connected to the router and modem.
    • Verify that your modem is working correctly.
    • Ensure your 5G cellular data plan is active and the SIM card is properly inserted.
    • Check the router's status LEDs for any error indicators.
  • Slow Wi-Fi Speeds:
    • Ensure your devices are connected to the appropriate Wi-Fi band (5 GHz for faster speeds, 2.4 GHz for wider range).
    • Reduce interference by moving the router away from other electronics.
    • Check for active bandwidth-heavy applications or devices.
  • Wi-Fi Network Not Visible:
    • Ensure the router is powered on and the Wi-Fi LED is active.
    • Verify that Wi-Fi is enabled in the router's settings via the web admin interface or app.
    • Try restarting the router.
