This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your GOTOTOP MX-K2 Morse Code Keyer. 4.1 Controls and Indicators

• F1 Button: Used for memory functions and recording.
• F2 Button: Used for memory functions, recording, and command mode.
• Indicator Light: Provides visual feedback on device status.
• Speed Control Knob (R3): Adjusts the Morse code transmission speed. Turning the knob counter-clockwise (decreasing the value) increases the speed.
• J1 Jumper: Located internally, used for buzzer mute.

• KEY Port: Connects to your Morse code paddle.
• TRANSCEIVER Port: Connects to your radio transceiver for transmitting Morse code.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

1. Locate the battery compartment on the device.
2. Open the compartment cover.
3. Insert 2 x AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: The F2 key's memory does not retain data if power is lost. The L/R key's memory has a power-off retention function.

5.2 Connecting to Equipment

1. Connect your Morse code paddle to the KEY port on the MX-K2.
2. Connect the TRANSCEIVER port on the MX-K2 to the appropriate input on your radio transceiver.

6. Operation

6.1 Basic Keyer Function

Once connected and powered, the MX-K2 is ready for use with your Morse code paddle. The device will convert your paddle inputs into standard Morse code signals for transmission.

6.2 Speed Control

The speed of Morse code transmission is controlled by the rotary knob (R3). Turning the knob counter-clockwise (decreasing its value) will increase the transmission speed. Adjust to your desired speed for practice or transmission.

6.3 Memory Functions

The MX-K2 features two memory keys, L/R (associated with F1) and F2, for storing frequently used messages.

• L/R Key (F1): Can store up to 60 words. This memory retains data even after power-off.
• F2 Key: Can store up to 50 words. This memory does not retain data after power-off.

6.3.1 Recording Messages

1. To begin recording, press and hold either the F1 or F2 button for more than half a second.
2. You will hear an audible 'M' sound, indicating that recording has started.
3. Transmit your Morse code message using the paddle. The keyer will automatically record your input.
4. To finish recording, press the same F1 or F2 button again. You will hear an 'S' sound, confirming the message is saved.
5. If you exceed the memory capacity, the keyer will indicate this with an 'F' sound, and any excess input will not be recorded.

6.3.2 Segmented Message Storage and Playback

Messages can be divided into multiple segments for easier management and playback. To create segments, input EOM (End of Message) at the desired break points during recording.

To play a specific segment of a stored message:

• Press the corresponding memory key (F1 or F2) the number of times equal to the segment you wish to play. For example, press the key twice for the second segment, three times for the third, and so on.

6.4 Command Mode

The Command Mode allows for advanced control over the keyer's functions.

1. Entering Command Mode: Press and hold both F1 and F2 buttons simultaneously. You will hear a 'C' sound, indicating entry into Command Mode.
2. Exiting Command Mode: To exit, press and hold both F1 and F2 buttons simultaneously again, or input the Morse code for 'D' using your paddle.

7. Maintenance

• Keep the device clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.
• Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• When not in use for extended periods, remove the AAA batteries to prevent leakage.
• Store the keyer in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
