4. Installation

TRUGLO TFX PRO sights are designed for specific handgun models. Verify compatibility before attempting installation. Professional installation by a qualified gunsmith is strongly recommended to prevent damage to the sights or your firearm.

4.1 Compatibility

4.2 Installation Process (Professional Recommended)

Installation typically involves removing existing sights and pressing the new TFX PRO sights into the dovetail slots on the slide. A sight pusher tool is highly recommended for proper installation. Avoid using a hammer and punch, as this can damage the sights or the firearm's slide.

• Preparation: Ensure the firearm is completely unloaded and safe. Secure the slide in a padded vise.
• Remove Old Sights: Carefully remove the existing front and rear sights using a sight pusher or appropriate tools.
• Install New Sights: Apply a light coat of oil to the dovetail cuts. Using a sight pusher, carefully press the new TRUGLO TFX PRO sights into place. Ensure they are centered on the slide.
• Secure (if applicable): Some rear sights may have a set screw. If so, apply blue thread locker to the screw and tighten it to secure the sight.
• Function Check: After installation, perform a thorough function check of your firearm to ensure all components operate correctly.

5. Operating Instructions

The TRUGLO TFX PRO sights are passive devices that enhance your aiming capabilities. They do not require batteries or external light sources to function. The fiber optics gather ambient light during the day, and the tritium provides self-illumination in low-light or no-light conditions.

• Daytime Use: The bright fiber-optic elements, especially the high-contrast orange ring on the front sight, provide a clear and fast sight picture in daylight. Align the front sight dot within the two rear sight dots.
• Nighttime Use: In low-light or dark environments, the tritium elements glow continuously, allowing for accurate aiming. The three-dot system (one front, two rear) remains visible.
• Emergency One-Handed Operation: The aggressive angled rear sight edge can be used for one-handed slide racking in emergency situations.

6. Maintenance

The TRUGLO TFX PRO sights are designed for minimal maintenance due to their robust construction and sealed components.

• Cleaning: The sights are impervious to common gun oils, chemicals, cleaning solvents, and ultrasonic cleaning processes. Clean them as you would clean your firearm, ensuring no residue obstructs the fiber-optic elements.
• Inspection: Periodically inspect the sights for any signs of damage or loosening. Ensure they remain securely seated in the slide's dovetail.
• Storage: Store your firearm with the sights in a cool, dry place, protected from extreme temperatures and humidity.

7. Troubleshooting

• Sights Not Glowing: Ensure the sights have been exposed to some light to charge the fiber optics (for daytime brightness). Tritium elements glow continuously, but their brightness can appear diminished in well-lit environments. If tritium is completely dark in absolute darkness, contact TRUGLO support.
• Difficulty Installing: Sight installation can be challenging due to tight tolerances. If you encounter significant resistance or cannot install the sights, do not force them. Seek professional installation from a qualified gunsmith who has specialized sight pusher tools.
• Sights Appear Loose: If sights become loose after installation, ensure any set screws are properly tightened (with thread locker if applicable). If they continue to loosen, professional re-installation may be required.
• Impact Shift: If your point of impact changes after sight installation, your sights may need to be adjusted for windage (left/right). This typically requires a sight pusher tool and live-fire testing at a shooting range.
