3. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to set up your ESP-01/ESP-01S RGB LED control module:
- Prepare the ESP-01/ESP-01S Module: Ensure your ESP-01 or ESP-01S Wi-Fi module is programmed with the desired firmware (e.g., WLED, custom Arduino sketch) before inserting it into the control module. The control module itself does not include the ESP-01/ESP-01S.
- Power Supply Connection: Connect a DC power supply (3.7V-5V) to the VCC and GND pins on the 2.54mm pin header of the control module.
Important Note: The positive supply voltage (VCC) on the control module board is directly connected to the VCC pin on the WS2812 3PIN connector. Therefore, if your WS2812 light bar or ring requires 5V power, ensure your DC power supply is also 5V. If using a 3.7V lithium battery, ensure your WS2812 LEDs can operate at 3.7V.
- Insert ESP-01/ESP-01S: Carefully insert the programmed ESP-01 or ESP-01S module into the 2x4 pin header on the control module. Ensure the module is oriented correctly, typically indicated by an arrow or pin labels on the board.
- Connect WS2812 LED Strip/Ring: Connect your WS2812 RGB LED light bar or ring to the 3Pin PH2.0 connector on the control module. The data signal for the WS2812 LEDs is controlled via GPIO2 of the ESP-01/ESP-01S.

4. Operating Instructions
Once the module is set up, its operation depends on the firmware loaded onto the ESP-01/ESP-01S module. This control module acts as an interface to power and provide the data signal (GPIO2) to the WS2812 LEDs.
- Programming with Arduino IDE:
- Install the ESP8266 board package in your Arduino IDE.
- Select the appropriate board (e.g., "Generic ESP8266 Module" or "ESP-01 Module").
- Write or load your Arduino sketch that utilizes libraries for WS2812 LEDs (e.g., Adafruit NeoPixel library) and controls them via GPIO2.
- Upload the program to your ESP-01/ESP-01S module using a suitable USB-to-TTL serial adapter (not included with this control module).
- Power On: Apply power to the control module via the VCC/GND pins. The ESP-01/ESP-01S will boot up and execute the loaded program, controlling the connected WS2812 LEDs.
- Control: Depending on your firmware, you may control the LEDs via Wi-Fi (e.g., web interface, MQTT, app) or through pre-programmed patterns.

5. Maintenance
This module requires minimal maintenance. Observe the following guidelines:
- Cleaning: If necessary, gently clean the module with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using liquids or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store the module in a dry, cool environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handling: Handle the module by its edges to avoid touching electronic components, which can be sensitive to static discharge.
- Power Supply: Always ensure the power supply voltage is within the specified range (DC 3.7V-5V) to prevent damage to the module or connected LEDs.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your PAMEENCOS ESP-01/ESP-01S RGB LED control module, consider the following:
- LEDs Not Lighting Up:
- Verify the power supply voltage is correct (3.7V-5V) and connected properly to VCC and GND.
- Check the connection of the WS2812 LED strip/ring to the 3Pin PH2.0 connector. Ensure correct polarity (VCC, Data, GND).
- Confirm that the ESP-01/ESP-01S module is correctly inserted into the control module's header.
- Ensure the ESP-01/ESP-01S has a program loaded that controls the WS2812 LEDs via GPIO2.
- Test the WS2812 LEDs and ESP-01/ESP-01S module independently if possible, to isolate the issue.
- Module Not Responding (ESP-01/ESP-01S):
- Check the power supply to the control module.
- Ensure the ESP-01/ESP-01S module is fully seated in its socket.
- If programming issues occur, ensure your USB-to-TTL adapter is functioning and correctly wired to the ESP-01/ESP-01S.
- Incorrect LED Behavior:
- Review your Arduino IDE code for correct pin assignments (GPIO2 for data) and WS2812 library usage.
- Ensure the number of LEDs defined in your code matches the actual number of LEDs in your strip/ring.
