  • Beads (Glass)
  • Felt (Synthetic leather)
  • Backing material
  • Brooch pins (Brass)
  • Needle (Steel)
  • Thread (Polyester)

Setup

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Choose a clean, well-lit, and flat surface. Lay down a cloth or mat to prevent beads from rolling away.
  2. Organize Materials: Carefully open the bead packets and sort them by color if necessary. Keep the needle, thread, felt, backing, and brooch pin readily accessible.
  3. Read Instructions: Familiarize yourself with the entire instruction manual before starting the beadwork.

Operating (Assembly Instructions)

Follow these steps to create your Sakuramochi brooch. The process is designed to be straightforward, much like filling in a coloring book with beads.

  1. Thread the Needle: Cut a comfortable length of thread (approximately 45-60 cm) and thread it through the needle. Tie a knot at one end.
  2. Identify the Pattern: The felt piece will have a pre-printed or indicated pattern for the Sakuramochi design. Observe the color guide to understand which beads go into which sections.
  3. Begin Bead Embroidery:
    • Start from the back of the felt, bringing the needle up through the fabric at the edge of a color section.
    • Pick up one or two beads (depending on the desired density and pattern).
    • Insert the needle back down through the felt immediately after the last bead, securing them in place.
    • Continue this process, working in small rows or outlines, filling in each color section of the Sakuramochi design. Ensure beads are snug but not overly tight.
    • When a section is complete or your thread is running low, secure the thread with a small knot on the back of the felt.
  4. Trim Excess Felt: Once all beadwork is complete, carefully trim the excess felt around the embroidered design, leaving a small border if desired, or trimming flush to the beads.
  5. Attach Backing: Apply a thin, even layer of the provided adhesive to the back of your beaded design. Carefully place the backing material onto the adhesive, pressing gently to ensure full contact. Allow to dry completely according to adhesive instructions.
  6. Attach Brooch Pin: Once the adhesive is dry, position the brooch pin on the backing material. Use the remaining adhesive to secure the brooch pin, or if the kit includes small stitches for the pin, use those. Ensure the pin is centered and securely attached. Allow to dry completely.
  7. Final Inspection: Check all beads for security and ensure the brooch pin is firmly attached before use.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the brooch with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Avoid using water or chemical cleaners, as this may damage the beads, felt, or adhesive.
  • Storage: Store the brooch in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, to prevent fading or damage to materials.
  • Handling: Handle the brooch with care to avoid snagging threads or dislodging beads.

Troubleshooting

  • Beads Falling Off: If beads become loose or fall off, re-stitch them securely using a fresh piece of thread. Ensure knots are tight when starting and ending threads.
  • Difficulty Threading Needle: If the thread frays, trim the end cleanly and twist it tightly before attempting to thread. A needle threader (not included) can also be helpful.
  • Adhesive Not Holding: Ensure surfaces are clean and dry before applying adhesive. Apply an even, thin layer and allow sufficient drying time, preferably under light pressure.
