5. Setup

5.1 Installing the Guide Bar and Chain

  1. Ensure the battery is removed from the chainsaw.
  2. Place the chain around the guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges face the correct direction (refer to the arrow on the chain).
  3. Align the chain with the sprocket on the chainsaw body and fit the guide bar over the mounting studs.
  4. Replace the side cover and hand-tighten the tensioning knob.

5.2 Adjusting Chain Tension

  1. With the side cover hand-tightened, use the tool-free tensioning knob to adjust the chain tension.
  2. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand. There should be no more than 2-3mm of slack when pulled from the center of the guide bar.
  3. Once tension is correct, fully tighten the side cover knob.

5.3 Installing the Battery

  1. Ensure the battery is fully charged.
  2. Slide the battery into the battery slot on the chainsaw until it clicks securely into place.
  3. To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery out.

5.4 Adding Chain Oil

The chainsaw requires chain oil for lubrication. Use a high-quality bar and chain oil.

  1. Unscrew the oil reservoir cap.
  2. Carefully pour chain oil into the reservoir, ensuring not to overfill. The transparent window indicates oil level.
  3. Replace the cap securely.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Pre-Operation Checks

  • Ensure all safety gear is worn.
  • Check chain tension and oil level.
  • Verify the work area is clear.

6.2 Starting and Stopping

  • To Start: Press and hold the safety lock button, then squeeze the trigger switch.
  • To Stop: Release the trigger switch. The chain brake will engage automatically.

6.3 Cutting Techniques

Always maintain a firm grip and stable stance. Let the chainsaw do the work; do not force it.

  • Pruning Small Branches: Support the branch if possible. Make a relief cut on the underside first to prevent bark stripping, then cut from the top.
  • Cutting Logs: Secure the log to prevent rolling. Cut through the log, being mindful of pinching the guide bar.
  • Pole Saw Configuration (Optional): If using with a compatible pole attachment (sold separately), ensure the attachment is securely fastened. Follow specific instructions for the pole attachment.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your chainsaw.

7.1 Cleaning

  • Always remove the battery before cleaning.
  • Use a brush or compressed air to remove sawdust and debris from the motor housing, guide bar, and chain.
  • Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.

7.2 Chain Lubrication

Ensure the oil reservoir is always filled with appropriate chain oil. The automatic oiler will lubricate the chain during operation.

7.3 Chain Sharpening and Replacement

  • A dull chain will reduce cutting efficiency and increase strain on the motor. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when necessary.
  • Refer to the chain manufacturer's instructions for proper sharpening techniques.
  • When replacing the chain, ensure it is the correct size (6-inch) and type for your chainsaw.
