6. Operating

6.1. First Boot

After all components are installed and connected, connect your monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Power on your system. The system should initiate the Power-On Self-Test (POST).

6.2. BIOS/UEFI Setup

During POST, press the DEL key (or as indicated on screen) to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup utility. Here you can configure system settings, boot order, and enable features like XMP for memory overclocking.

6.3. Driver Installation

After installing your operating system (e.g., Windows 10/11), install the necessary drivers for the motherboard chipset, LAN, audio, and any other integrated components. These can be found on the included driver CD/USB or downloaded from the official MSI website.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

Regularly clean your computer's interior to prevent dust buildup, which can lead to overheating. Use compressed air to clear dust from fans, heatsinks, and vents. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.

7.2. BIOS Updates

Periodically check the MSI website for BIOS/UEFI updates. Updates can improve system stability, add support for new hardware, or fix bugs. Follow the instructions provided by MSI carefully when performing a BIOS update.

7.3. Component Checks

Ensure all cables are securely connected and components are properly seated. Loose connections can cause system instability or prevent proper function.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Check all power connections from the PSU to the motherboard and components. Ensure the PSU switch is on and the wall outlet is functional.
  • No Display: Verify that your monitor is connected to the correct display output (either integrated graphics or dedicated graphics card). Reseat the graphics card and RAM modules.
  • POST Issues / Debug LEDs: The MSI Pro B650M-B features EZ Debug LEDs. If a specific LED (CPU, DRAM, VGA, BOOT) remains lit, it indicates an issue with that component. Refer to the motherboard's specific manual for detailed LED codes.
  • System Instability: Ensure all drivers are up to date. Check CPU and GPU temperatures. If overclocking, try reverting to default settings.
  • Slow Boot Times: Ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version, as some updates specifically address boot performance. Check boot order in BIOS.
