Fuel and Oil Mixture

The MotoTec DB-01 uses a 2-stroke engine, requiring a specific gasoline and oil mixture. Using the incorrect mixture will damage the engine and void the warranty.

  • Fuel Type: Unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher.
  • Oil Type: High-quality 2-stroke engine oil.
  • Mixing Ratio: 25 parts gasoline to 1 part 2-stroke oil (25:1 ratio).

Always mix the fuel and oil in a separate, approved fuel container before pouring it into the dirt bike's fuel tank. Shake the container gently to ensure thorough mixing.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of your dirt bike.

1. Chain Maintenance

  • Inspect the chain regularly for proper tension. It should have a small amount of slack.
  • Lubricate the chain with appropriate chain lubricant after every few rides or if it appears dry.
  • Clean the chain periodically to remove dirt and debris.

2. Brake System

  • Check brake pads for wear and replace if necessary.
  • Ensure brake levers operate smoothly and provide adequate stopping power.

3. Tires

  • Check tire pressure before each ride. Refer to the tire sidewall for recommended pressure.
  • Inspect tires for cuts, punctures, or excessive wear.

4. General Inspection

  • Periodically check all fasteners for tightness.
  • Clean the air filter regularly, especially after riding in dusty conditions.
  • Keep the dirt bike clean to prevent dirt buildup from affecting moving parts.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your MotoTec DB-01 dirt bike.

Engine Not Starting

  • No Fuel: Check the fuel tank level and ensure the fuel/oil mixture is correct.
  • Kill Switch: Verify the kill switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • Ignition Key: Ensure the ignition key is turned to the 'ON' position.
  • Choke: If the engine is cold, ensure the choke is engaged.
  • Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug for fouling or damage. Clean or replace if necessary.

Chain Keeps Coming Off

  • Chain Tension: The chain may be too loose. Adjust the chain tension according to maintenance guidelines.
  • Wheel Alignment: Ensure the rear wheel is properly aligned. Misalignment can cause the chain to derail.
  • Worn Sprocket/Chain: Inspect the sprockets and chain for excessive wear. Replace if worn.

Loss of Power / Engine Stalling

  • Fuel Quality/Mixture: Ensure fresh fuel with the correct 25:1 gas/oil mixture is used.
  • Air Filter: A dirty air filter can restrict airflow. Clean or replace the air filter.
  • Spark Plug: A faulty spark plug can cause misfires and power loss.
