4.2. Powering On and Web Interface Access
- Power On: Connect the power adapter to an electrical outlet or power source. The hotspot will begin to boot up. The 2.4" screen will display "MMDVM" and then "Initializing".
- Wait for Initialization: Allow approximately 3 minutes for the hotspot to fully initialize. Once complete, the screen will display the IP address.
- Access Web Interface: Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as the hotspot. Enter the IP address displayed on the hotspot's screen into the browser's address bar. Alternatively, you can try entering "http://pi-star" (without quotes) if the IP address is not immediately visible or if you prefer a hostname.
- Login: For the first login, use the default credentials:
- Username: pi-star
- Password: raspberry

4.3. Initial Configuration
Once logged into the Pi-Star dashboard, you will need to configure your hotspot settings:
- Set Callsign: Enter your amateur radio callsign.
- DMR ID: Input your DMR ID.
- Hotspot Security: Configure the necessary security settings for your hotspot.
- Wi-Fi Configuration (if not using Ethernet): Navigate to the Wi-Fi configuration section to connect your hotspot to your desired wireless network.
4.4. Testing Transmit and Receive
To verify your hotspot is functioning correctly, perform a transmit and receive test:
- Using your digital radio, call a test talk group (e.g., 9990).
- If you receive a reply, your hotspot is correctly configured for transmit and receive.
- Monitor the Pi-Star dashboard for activity to confirm successful communication.
