5.2 Focusing

The lens features a VXD linear motor for fast and precise autofocus. You can switch between autofocus (AF) and manual focus (MF) modes via your camera settings. For manual focus, rotate the focus ring to achieve desired sharpness.

5.3 Vibration Compensation (VC)

The built-in VC (Vibration Compensation) system helps to reduce camera shake, especially beneficial when shooting handheld or in challenging lighting conditions. The VC function can typically be enabled or disabled through your camera's menu or a dedicated switch on the lens if available (refer to Figure 5.1 for control layout).

5.4 Using TAMRON Lens Utility™

This lens is compatible with the TAMRON Lens Utility™ and TAMRON Lens Utility Mobile™ applications. These tools allow you to customize various lens functions, such as focus ring behavior, custom switch assignments, and firmware updates. Connect the lens to your computer or mobile device via a USB-C cable to access these features.

6. Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your lens.

  • Cleaning Lens Elements: Use a soft, clean microfiber cloth specifically designed for optical lenses. For stubborn smudges, use a small amount of lens cleaning fluid applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens.
  • Cleaning the Lens Body: Wipe the lens body with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the lens with both front and rear caps attached in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Consider using a desiccant to prevent mold growth in humid environments.
  • Moisture and Dust: The lens features moisture-resistant construction and fluorine coating on the front element, but it is not waterproof. Avoid exposing the lens to heavy rain or dust storms. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.
  • Handling: Always handle the lens carefully. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts.
