5. Setup
5.1 Charging the Battery
The DD1217 detector is equipped with a built-in rechargeable 6800 mAh 3.7V battery. Before first use, fully charge the device.
- Connect the supplied USB charging cable to the USB port on the detector.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to a standard USB 5V power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter).
- The charging indicator on the device will show the charging status. A full charge provides up to 5 hours of operational time.
5.2 Attaching Antennas
The device comes with two antennas for optimal detection across different frequency ranges.
- Identify the two SMA antenna inputs on the device.
- For general detection, attach the standard omnidirectional antenna to one of the SMA inputs.
- For detecting signals above 2400 MHz and for physical localization, attach the high-band directional antenna to the designated input (Input 1 SMA, 2400-6000MHz).
- Ensure antennas are securely tightened but do not overtighten.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Powering On/Off
- To power on, press the POWER button (usually located near the screen).
- To power off, press and hold the POWER OFF button until the device shuts down.
6.2 Navigation and Sensitivity Adjustment
Use the joystick to navigate through menus and adjust settings. The DD1217 offers 43 threshold levels for optimal sensitivity setting.
- Joystick: Move left-right, up-down to select options. Press to confirm.
- Threshold Adjustment: In detection modes, use the joystick to increase or decrease the detection threshold, allowing you to filter out weak background noise or focus on stronger signals.
6.3 Operating Modes
The DD1217 features several operating modes to suit different detection needs:
- ALL BANDS: Detects all available mobile and wireless bands simultaneously. This mode provides a comprehensive overview of all active signals.
- GROUP: Allows detection on a selected group of bands. This is useful for focusing on specific types of signals (e.g., only Wi-Fi, only cellular).
- BAND: Provides detailed analysis of a separate, user-selected band. This mode facilitates the physical search and localization of a transmitter within that specific frequency range.
- TRACKER: A dedicated mode for the detection of GPS trackers. This mode includes history accumulation to help identify intermittent tracking devices.
The selective multi-band principle informs the user exactly which signals were found, including GSM, CDMA, 3G, 4G/LTE, 5G (up to 6 GHz), Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 5 GHz, DECT, ISM 434MHz, ISM 968 MHz, and ISM 915 MHz.
6.4 Alarm Function
The ALARM function warns the operator about exceeding the set threshold, both with sound and visually.
- Press the ALARM button to toggle the alarm function on or off.
- Adjust the threshold level using the joystick to determine at what signal strength the alarm will trigger.
6.5 Using the Directional Antenna
The high-band directional antenna is particularly useful for locating transmitters operating above 2400 MHz. Attach this antenna to Input 1 (2400-6000MHz) for precise signal source identification.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
- Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth.
- Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
7.2 Battery Care
- Recharge the battery regularly, even if the device is not in frequent use, to maintain battery health.
- Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | Battery is depleted. | Connect the device to a USB power source and charge fully. |
| No signals detected. | Antennas not properly connected or damaged. Sensitivity set too low. | Ensure antennas are securely attached. Increase sensitivity using the joystick. Verify operating mode is appropriate for desired detection. |
| Excessive false alarms. | Sensitivity set too high. Interference from other electronic devices. | Decrease sensitivity (increase threshold). Move away from known electronic devices. |
| Screen is unresponsive. | Temporary software glitch. | Power off the device and restart it. If the issue persists, contact support. |
