5. Operating the Gel Blaster

5.1 Firing Modes

The Surge XL offers three adaptable blasting modes:

  • Single Shot: Fires one Gellet per trigger pull.
  • Triple Burst: Fires three Gellets with a single trigger pull.
  • Rapid-Fire Full Auto: Fires up to 10 Gellets per second continuously while the trigger is held.

Select your desired mode using the mode selector switch on the blaster.

5.2 Velocity Adjustment

The blaster features an adjustable velocity dial, allowing you to customize the Gellet speed from 170 to an astonishing 250 feet per second (FPS). Use the included velocity adjustment tool to set the desired FPS. Lower velocities are recommended for less experienced players.

5.3 Firing

Once Gellets are loaded, the battery is charged, and safety glasses are worn, aim at your target and press the trigger to fire. Ensure your target is at a safe distance, considering the maximum range of 150 feet.

6. Charging and Battery

The Surge XL is equipped with a built-in rechargeable USB-C battery. To charge:

  1. Connect the provided USB-C charging cable to the blaster's charging port.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to a compatible USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, computer USB port).
  3. The low battery indicator will signal when charging is needed. A full charge takes approximately 45 minutes.

The battery provides up to 4 hours of continuous play on a full charge.

7. Gellet Preparation and Loading

7.1 Gellet Hydration

Gel Blaster Gellets are eco-friendly, water-based projectiles that burst on impact and evaporate, leaving minimal residue. For optimal performance, ensure Gellets are fully hydrated.

  • Place dry Gellets in a container with plenty of water.
  • Allow Gellets to soak for at least 2-4 hours, or until they reach their full size (approximately 7-8mm).
  • Drain any excess water before loading.

7.2 Loading the Hopper

The Surge XL features an extra-large gravity-fed hopper. To load:

  1. Open the hopper lid.
  2. Pour hydrated Gellets into the hopper.
  3. Close the hopper lid securely.

The hopper can hold over 1,000 Gellets, minimizing reload time.

8. Maintenance

The Gel Blaster Surge XL requires minimal maintenance due to the nature of Gellets. However, proper care ensures longevity:

  • Cleaning: After use, ensure no Gellets are left in the hopper or feeding mechanism. Wipe down the exterior of the blaster with a damp cloth. Do not submerge the blaster in water.
  • Storage: Store the blaster in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not store hydrated Gellets in the blaster for extended periods, as they may dry out or cause blockages.
  • Gellet Disposal: Unused hydrated Gellets can be disposed of safely as they are biodegradable.

9. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Gel Blaster Surge XL, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Blaster Not Firing:
    • Check if the battery is charged.
    • Ensure Gellets are properly loaded in the hopper and are fully hydrated.
    • Verify that the firing mode selector is set correctly.
  • Gellets Not Feeding/Jams:
    • Ensure Gellets are fully hydrated and not too small or too large.
    • Gently shake the blaster to dislodge any stuck Gellets.
    • Clear any obstructions from the hopper or feeding area.
  • Reduced Firing Power/Range:
    • Recharge the battery.
    • Check the velocity adjustment dial to ensure it is set to the desired level.
    • Ensure Gellets are properly hydrated.

If problems persist, contact Gel Blaster customer support.
