Operating Instructions

Viewing Modes: Display and App

The Simyke baby monitor offers dual viewing options:

  • 2.8" Plug & Play Display: Use the dedicated parent unit for direct, secure monitoring within your home.
  • Smartphone App: Monitor your baby remotely via the app when you are away from home, provided the camera is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network.

The monitor offers flexible viewing options via its dedicated display and a smartphone app.

Two-Way Audio

Communicate with your baby through the monitor. Press and hold the talk button on the parent unit or use the microphone icon in the app to speak. Release the button to hear your baby's response.

Two scenes demonstrating two-way talk: top shows a baby looking at the camera with a speech bubble 'Hey baby', bottom shows a mother cooking while looking at the monitor with a speech bubble 'Mom'.

Engage in two-way communication with your baby using the monitor's audio feature.

Night Vision

The baby camera is equipped with infrared night vision, automatically activating in low-light conditions. This allows for clear monitoring of your baby's movements without disturbing their sleep.

Automatic night vision provides clear visibility in dark environments.

VOX Mode (Sound-Activated Screen)

In VOX mode, the monitor's display will turn off to conserve power when no sound is detected. When your baby makes sounds or cries, the screen will automatically light up to alert you. This is the factory default setting. You can adjust or disable this mode in the monitor settings if preferred.

Two images illustrating VOX mode: top shows the monitor screen off with a sleeping baby, bottom shows the screen on with a crying baby and a sound alert icon.

VOX mode conserves battery by activating the screen only when sound is detected.

Lullabies

The monitor includes 5 calming lullabies with adjustable volume and looped melodies to help soothe your baby to sleep. You can play these through the parent unit or the app.

  • Feeding Reminder: Set reminders for feeding times directly from the parent unit.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Simyke Baby Monitor, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surfaces of the camera and monitor. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Avoid Water: Keep the units away from water and moisture. Do not immerse them in water.
  • Temperature: Store and operate the monitor within recommended temperature ranges (typically room temperature) to prevent damage.
  • Cable Care: Handle power cables carefully. Do not bend or crimp them excessively. Ensure cables are placed out of reach of children.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Simyke Baby Monitor, please refer to the solutions below:

Monitor Not Working Normally or Erratic Performance

  1. Power Supply: Confirm the power supply is securely plugged in. Use only the Simyke power supply provided. Ensure the electrical outlet is working and not controlled by a wall switch.
  2. Units On: Verify that both the parent unit and baby unit are turned on. Check that the blue light on the back of the camera is illuminated.
  3. Range & Interference: The parent unit may be too far from the baby unit, or other devices (e.g., WiFi routers, smartphones, laptops) may be causing interference. Try placing the parent unit at least 3 feet away from WiFi devices. Move the parent unit closer to the baby unit to find better reception. Note: Units should not be closer than 3 feet apart.
  4. Reset Procedure:
    • Disconnect power to both the baby unit and parent unit.
    • Wait approximately 15 seconds.
    • Reconnect the adapters to both units.
    • Wait one minute for the devices to reconnect.

Noise static or erratic performance can be caused by nearby electronic equipment using the same frequency. Separate your baby monitor from these devices as much as possible.

Unable to Scan QR Code or Connect to Network

  1. Camera Power: Ensure the baby camera is properly plugged in and turned on.
  2. Pairing Mode: Confirm the baby camera has entered network pairing mode.
  3. QR Code Generation: Verify that the app is generating a correct QR code screenshot.
  4. Scan Confirmation: Check if the camera prompts successful code scanning.
  5. Error Message: Note any specific error messages when the QR code cannot be read or network connection fails.
  6. Router Frequency: Confirm your router is a 2.4GHz frequency band. The monitor currently only supports 2.4GHz WiFi.
  7. Connection Timeout: If the camera scans the code but times out connecting to the network, reconfirm your router is 2.4GHz and the phone's QR code is correct.
  8. Restart & Retry: If you've confirmed pairing mode and still experience timeouts, try restarting the baby camera and re-entering pairing mode to scan the code again.

VOX Mode Behavior

The factory default setting for the baby monitor is VOX mode. This means the display will turn off when no sound is detected to save power, and light up when sound is detected. If you prefer a continuous display, you can change this setting in the monitor's menu.
