1. Important Safety Information
Read and understand all instructions before using this ladder. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or property damage. Keep this manual for future reference.
- Maximum Load Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 800 pounds (approximately 363 kg). This includes the user and any tools or materials on the ladder or tool platform.
- Inspect Before Use: Always inspect the ladder for damage, loose fasteners, or missing parts before each use. Do not use a damaged ladder.
- Stable Surface: Ensure the ladder is placed on a firm, level, and non-slippery surface. Avoid placing it on uneven ground, soft soil, or slippery floors.
- Secure Locking Mechanism: Always ensure the safety locking mechanism is fully engaged when the ladder is unfolded and in use. This prevents accidental folding.
- Maintain Three Points of Contact: When climbing or descending, always maintain three points of contact (two hands and one foot, or two feet and one hand) with the ladder.
- Do Not Overreach: Keep your body centered between the side rails. Do not overreach or lean too far to the side, as this can cause the ladder to tip.
- One Person Only: This ladder is designed for use by one person at a time.
- Footwear: Wear non-slip footwear with good traction when using the ladder.
- Electrical Hazards: Be aware of overhead power lines and other electrical hazards. Metal ladders conduct electricity.
- Proper Storage: Store the ladder in a dry, secure location away from children and unauthorized users.

3. Setup and Assembly
The KINGRACK 4-Step Ladder comes mostly pre-assembled. Only the handrails and the tool platform require attachment. All necessary hardware and tools are included.
Assembly Steps:
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify that all components and hardware are present according to the packing list (if provided).
- Attach Handrails:
- Align the handrails with the designated attachment points on the main ladder frame.
- Insert the longer threaded bolts through the frame and into the brass threads recessed in the handrails.
- Hand-tighten the bolts initially to ensure correct threading. If resistance is met, re-align and try again to avoid cross-threading.
- Once all bolts are hand-tightened, use the provided Allen key to securely fasten them. Do not overtighten.
- Install Tool Platform:
- The tool platform unit slots into the top section of the ladder.
- Secure the tool platform using the shorter inner threaded pins and washers.
- Attach the two lower support stay bars of the tool platform to the main chassis using the longer inner threaded pins, ensuring plastic bushes are correctly positioned between the frame and the stay bars.
- Insert the short threaded Allen key bolts and tighten them.
- Note: The two main pre-fitted bolts and nuts on the tool platform are designed to be slightly loose to allow for smooth folding. Do not attempt to tighten these further.
- Final Check: After assembly, ensure all bolts are tightened, and the ladder feels stable. Test the folding and unfolding mechanism.

4. Operating Instructions
Unfolding the Ladder:
- Place the folded ladder on a flat, stable surface.
- Grasp the top handle and gently pull the front and back sections apart until the ladder is fully extended.
- Ensure the yellow safety locking mechanism, located under the top step, automatically engages and locks the ladder in the open position. Verify it is securely latched before use.

Figure 4.1: Detail of the automatic locking mechanism, a yellow tab located beneath the top step, which secures the ladder in its open position and is released by lifting for folding.
Folding the Ladder:
- Ensure no tools or items are on the tool platform or steps.
- Locate the yellow safety locking mechanism under the top step.
- Lift the yellow tab to disengage the lock.
- Gently push the front and back sections of the ladder together until it is fully folded.
Using the Tool Platform:
The integrated tool platform is designed to hold small tools, hardware, or paint cans. Place items securely in the designated slots or on the flat surface. Avoid overloading the platform or placing items that could easily fall off.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your KINGRACK ladder.
- Cleaning: Wipe down the ladder with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or plastic components. Dry thoroughly before storage.
- Inspection: Periodically check all bolts, rivets, and moving parts for tightness and wear. Ensure the non-skid pedals and feet covers are intact and provide adequate grip. Replace any worn or damaged parts immediately.
- Lubrication: Apply a small amount of lubricant (e.g., light oil or grease) to the hinges and folding mechanisms annually to ensure smooth operation.
- Storage: Store the ladder in a dry, indoor environment to prevent rust and corrosion. When folded, the ladder is compact and can be stored in a garage, closet, or utility room. Avoid storing in direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your KINGRACK ladder, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Ladder Does Not Unfold/Fold Smoothly:
- Check for any obstructions in the hinge mechanisms.
- Ensure the safety locking mechanism is fully disengaged when folding.
- Apply lubricant to the hinges as described in the Maintenance section.
- Ladder Feels Unstable:
- Verify that the ladder is placed on a firm, level surface.
- Ensure the safety locking mechanism is fully engaged.
- Check all assembly bolts for tightness. Re-tighten if necessary.
- Inspect the feet covers for wear or damage.
- Ensure all structural components, especially the top step plate, are intact and free from damage. Damage to these parts can compromise stability.
- Tool Platform Not Functioning Correctly:
- Check for any obstructions preventing the platform from moving freely.
- Ensure the pre-fitted bolts and nuts on the platform are not overtightened, as they require some play for proper function.
