Operating Instructions

Operating the Grainfather G30³ involves several stages of the brewing process. Here's a general overview:

  1. Water Heating: Fill the system with the required volume of water. Use the Bluetooth controller to set and monitor the water temperature for mashing.
  2. Mashing: Add your crushed grains to the grain basket. The system will maintain the mash temperature, and the built-in pump will recirculate the wort for optimal extraction.
  3. Sparging: After mashing, lift the grain basket and allow the wort to drain into the main vessel. You can then sparge the grains with hot water to rinse out remaining sugars.
  4. Boiling: Remove the grain basket. Bring the wort to a rolling boil. Add hops according to your recipe. The system's heating element provides efficient boiling.
  5. Cooling: Once the boil is complete, cool the wort rapidly. While the Counter Flow Wort Chiller is sold separately, it is highly recommended for efficient cooling to pitching temperature.
  6. Transfer to Fermenter: Transfer the cooled wort to your fermenter, ensuring proper sanitation throughout the process.

For detailed brewing recipes and advanced control, utilize the Grainfather App via the Bluetooth controller. This allows for remote management and precise temperature control.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper maintenance and cleaning are essential for the longevity and performance of your Grainfather G30³ system. Always clean the system immediately after use.

  1. Initial Rinse: After transferring wort, rinse the main vessel, grain basket, and all pipes with warm water to remove large debris.
  2. Deep Cleaning: Use a suitable brewing cleaner (e.g., PBW or similar alkaline cleaner) mixed with hot water. Circulate the cleaning solution through the pump and pipes for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Brush Cleaning: Use a soft brush to scrub the inside of the vessel, grain basket, and mash plate. Pay attention to any areas where wort or grain residue might accumulate.
  4. Rinsing: Thoroughly rinse all components with clean water until no cleaning solution remains.
  5. Drying and Storage: Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling or storing the system. Store in a clean, dry place.

The new rolled edges of the mash plate and the design of the grain basket make cleaning easier as there are no silicone seals to remove and clean separately.
