Your safety and the safety of others are paramount. Always follow basic safety precautions when using this appliance to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury.
- Indoor Use Only: This heater is designed for indoor use in well-ventilated areas.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation to prevent oxygen depletion. Do not use in unventilated basements or small, sealed rooms.
- Gas Type: Use only butane gas cylinders up to 15kg. Do not use other gas types.
- Gas Leaks: If you smell gas, immediately turn off the gas supply, open windows and doors, and do not operate any electrical switches or appliances. Contact a qualified technician.
- Clearance: Maintain a safe distance from flammable materials (curtains, furniture, paper, etc.).
- Supervision: Do not leave the heater unattended while in operation, especially around children or pets.
- Stability: Always place the heater on a firm, level surface. The integrated wheels are for portability, not for operation on uneven ground.
- ODS System: The heater is equipped with an Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) system, which automatically shuts off the heater if oxygen levels become too low. Do not attempt to bypass or disable this safety feature.
- No Modifications: Do not modify the appliance or its components.
- Storage: Store gas cylinders in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

4. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to set up your Grunkel CT-HEAT heater:
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the heater from its packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
- Unfolding (if applicable): If the heater is in its folded state, carefully unfold the rear panel and secure it according to the instructions provided with the unit. Ensure all locking mechanisms are engaged.
- Positioning: Place the heater on a stable, level surface in a well-ventilated room. Ensure there is sufficient clearance from walls, furniture, and other flammable objects (minimum 1 meter from front, 0.5 meters from sides and rear).
- Gas Cylinder Installation:
- Ensure the gas cylinder valve is closed.
- Open the rear compartment of the heater.
- Carefully place the butane gas cylinder (up to 15kg) into the compartment.
- Connect the gas regulator (not included with this model, ensure you have a compatible one) to the gas cylinder valve. Tighten securely.
- Connect the gas hose from the regulator to the heater's gas inlet. Ensure all connections are tight and leak-free. Use soapy water to check for leaks (bubbles indicate a leak).
- Close the rear compartment.
5. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to operate your Grunkel CT-HEAT heater:
- Open Gas Supply: Slowly open the valve on the gas cylinder.
- Ignition:
- Press and hold the control knob inwards.
- While holding the knob, turn it to the desired heat setting (1, 2, or 3).
- Press the piezo igniter button repeatedly until the burner ignites. You should hear a clicking sound and see the catalytic panel glow.
- Continue to hold the control knob for approximately 10-20 seconds after ignition to allow the thermocouple to heat up and engage the safety valve.
- Release the control knob. The burner should remain lit. If it extinguishes, repeat the ignition process.
- Adjusting Heat: Rotate the control knob to select one of the three heat settings (1.5kW, 2.8kW, or 4.2kW) as desired.
- Turning Off:
- First, close the valve on the gas cylinder.
- Allow the remaining gas in the hose to burn off until the flame extinguishes.
- Turn the control knob to the "OFF" position.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your heater.
- Cleaning: Ensure the heater is completely cool before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Gas Hose and Regulator: Periodically inspect the gas hose and regulator for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. Replace them immediately if any damage is found. Check the expiry date on the gas hose.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the gas cylinder, ensure the heater is clean and dry, and store it in a cool, dry place. The foldable design allows for compact storage.
- Professional Inspection: It is recommended to have the heater inspected by a qualified technician at least once a year.
7. Troubleshooting
Refer to this section for common issues and their solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Heater does not ignite. | Gas cylinder valve closed, no gas, faulty igniter, air in hose. | Open gas valve. Check gas level. Press igniter button firmly and repeatedly. Bleed air from hose by attempting ignition several times. |
| Heater ignites but extinguishes when knob is released. | Thermocouple not heated sufficiently, faulty thermocouple. | Hold the control knob for 10-20 seconds after ignition. If problem persists, contact service. |
| Heater shuts off during operation. | Low oxygen levels (ODS activated), gas cylinder empty, gas pressure too low. | Ensure adequate ventilation. Replace empty gas cylinder. Check gas connections. |
| Smell of gas. | Gas leak. | Immediately turn off gas supply. Open windows/doors. Do not operate electrical switches. Check all connections with soapy water. Contact a qualified technician if leak persists. |
