  • Fade Function: Adjustable fade-in and fade-out times for smooth transitions.
  • Power Settings: Unified minimum and maximum output settings for all channels to prevent flickering and overload.
  • Mounting Options: Built-in mounting holes for quick truss installation.

2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove the dimmer pack from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage. Ensure all components are present.

2.2 Power Connection

The CP0401DA features two separate power input lines. Channels 1 and 2 draw power from the first plug, while channels 3 and 4 use the second plug, which also powers the control system itself. Connect both power plugs to appropriate 90-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz power sources.

2.3 DMX Connection

Connect your DMX controller to the DMX IN port on the dimmer pack. If daisy-chaining multiple DMX devices, connect the DMX OUT port to the DMX IN of the next device.

2.4 Fixture Connection

The unit features eight standard American outlets, with each pair of vertical sockets forming a channel that supports up to 10A. Connect your lighting fixtures to the corresponding outlets. Ensure that the total current draw for each channel does not exceed 10A and the total for both power lines does not exceed 40A.

2.5 Mounting

The dimmer pack includes built-in mounting holes for quick truss installation. Securely attach the unit to a truss or other suitable mounting point using appropriate clamps (not included).

3. Operating Modes

The CP0401DA offers three versatile operating modes: Manual, Chase (Built-in Program), and DMX/RDM Channel Mode. Navigation and selection are done via the four function buttons and the OLED display.

3.1 Manual Dimmer Mode

In Manual Dimmer Mode, you can directly adjust the brightness of each channel's connected fixture. Use the navigation buttons to select a channel and adjust its output value (0-255). A higher value corresponds to brighter light output.

Note: Devices with a switch-mode power supply or traditional transformers cannot be controlled in Manual Dimmer Mode. Use Relay Functionality for these devices.

3.2 Dynamic Chase Mode (Built-in Programs)

This mode allows you to select from 16 built-in programs to manage the 4 channels, altering the brightness and on/off settings of your fixtures. The speed of these effects can be set from 001 (fastest) to 100 (slowest).

  • Odd-numbered effects are for relay functions.
  • Even-numbered effects offer dimming effects.

3.3 DMX Channel Mode with RDM Support

The DMX mode offers five DMX Personalities for remote control of device switches or light brightness:

  • CH4-SW4: 4-Channel Switch Control
  • CH5-SW4-M: 5-Channel Switch Control with Master Control
  • CH4-DM4: 4-Channel Dimming Control
  • CH4-DM-MFP: 4-Channel Dimming with Multi-Function Presets
  • CH8-DM4-MFP: 8-Channel Dimming with Multi-Function Presets

RDM protocol compatibility allows for remote modification of device labels, DMX addresses, and personalities using an RDM controller or compatible software.

Caution: For devices with switch-mode power supplies or traditional transformers, always use relay control to prevent damage when operating in DMX mode.

4. Advanced Settings

4.1 Fade Time Configuration

The Fade feature allows you to set the fade-in and fade-out time for your lights, providing smooth transitions. There are 255 parameter values to choose from; a larger value results in a longer fade time.

4.2 Power Settings (Min/Max Output)

You can set a unified minimum and maximum output for the four channels. This feature helps prevent LEDs from flickering when the current is too low and ensures the device operates within a safe power range, avoiding overload. The minimum power percentage range is 0 to 30, and the maximum power percentage range is 70 to 100.

5.2 General Cleaning

Regularly clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure ventilation openings are clear of dust and debris.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Lights not dimming in Manual Mode: Ensure that the connected fixtures are compatible with dimming. Devices with switch-mode power supplies or traditional transformers cannot be controlled in Manual Dimmer Mode.
  • Flickering LEDs: Adjust the minimum power output setting in the Power Settings menu to a value where the LEDs do not flicker.
  • Overload Protection: The device is designed to operate within a safe power range. If an overload occurs, check the total current draw of your connected fixtures and adjust accordingly. Ensure the maximum output of the lights does not exceed a certain value by adjusting the Max Power setting.
  • No DMX Control: Verify DMX cable connections, DMX address settings, and DMX personality selection. Ensure your DMX controller is functioning correctly.
