The included 5-pin on-off rocker switch features an SPST (single pole single throw) design for simple operation. It is constructed from high-quality ABS material for durability and has been tested for over 10,000 presses. The switch has built-in LEDs that illuminate to indicate its status.

Wiring Diagram:

Detailed wiring diagram for the Nilight fog light harness kit.

Image: Comprehensive wiring diagram illustrating connections from the battery to the relay, fuse, rocker switch, and two fog light outputs. Shows positive and negative terminals, output connectors, and the rocker switch pinout.

  1. Connect the red wire from the harness to the positive (+) terminal of your vehicle's 12V battery.
  2. Connect the black wire from the harness to the negative (-) terminal of your vehicle's 12V battery or a suitable ground point on the vehicle chassis.
  3. Route the wiring harness to the desired location for your fog lights. The harness has two output connectors for dual light fixtures.
  4. Connect your H11, H9, H8, or other compatible fog light bulbs to the output connectors. Ensure a secure connection.
  5. Install the 5-pin rocker switch in a suitable location within your vehicle's dashboard or console. Refer to the switch dimensions for proper fitment.
  6. Connect the wires from the harness to the rocker switch according to the wiring diagram. The switch has specific pins for power input, output to the relay, and ground.
  7. Ensure all connections are tight and insulated. Use electrical insulating tape where necessary.
  8. Once all connections are made, reconnect the vehicle's battery.
  9. Test the fog lights using the rocker switch.

The harness length is 7.2 feet, providing ample length for various mounting positions. The extended power wire to the switch is approximately 6.87 feet, and to the battery is 1.77 feet. The extended power to each fog light is approximately 3.88 feet and 7.33 feet respectively.

Operating Instructions

The 5-pin rocker switch controls the power to your fog lights.

Illustration of the rocker switch LED lighting effects in ON and OFF positions.

Image: Demonstrates the LED lighting behavior of the rocker switch. The lower LED illuminates constantly when the ignition key is on (back-up LED lights), or only when the switch is in the ON position (no back-up LED lights).

  • Turning On: Press the top part of the rocker switch labeled "FOG LIGHTS" to the ON position. The built-in LEDs will illuminate, and your connected fog lights will turn on.
  • Turning Off: Press the bottom part of the rocker switch to the OFF position. The built-in LEDs will turn off (or the lower LED will remain on if configured as a back-up light), and your fog lights will turn off.
  • The lower LED on the switch can be configured to illuminate constantly when the ignition is on (back-up LED lights) or only when the switch is in the ON position (no back-up LED lights).

Maintenance

  • Periodically inspect all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion. Clean any corroded terminals.
  • Check the fuse regularly. If the fog lights stop working, the fuse may have blown. Replace it with a new fuse of the same amperage (10A or 15A). Extra fuses are provided.
  • Ensure the wiring harness is not exposed to excessive heat, sharp edges, or moving parts that could cause damage.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Fog lights do not turn on.Blown fuse.Check and replace the blade fuse in the fuse holder. Use a fuse of the correct amperage (10A or 15A).
Fog lights do not turn on.Loose or incorrect wiring connections.Verify all connections are secure and follow the wiring diagram. Ensure positive and negative terminals are correctly connected.
Fog lights do not turn on.Faulty rocker switch.Test the switch for continuity. If faulty, replace the switch.
Fog lights flicker or are dim.Poor ground connection.Ensure the ground wire is securely connected to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle chassis.
Fog lights flicker or are dim.Insufficient power supply or overloaded circuit.Ensure the vehicle's battery is adequately charged. Verify the total wattage of connected lights does not exceed 180W. If using 24V, ensure a 24V relay is installed.
