5. Setup (Installation)
Before You Begin: Ensure the main power supply to the installation area is completely shut off and locked out to prevent accidental re-energization.
- Mounting on Din Rail:
Align the circuit breaker's mounting clip with the Din Rail. Press the circuit breaker firmly onto the rail until it clicks into place. Ensure it is securely fastened and does not wobble.

Figure 5.1: Illustration of the Din Rail mounting process. The clip allows for easy attachment and removal.
- Wiring Connections:
- Connect the incoming phase wires to the top terminals (marked 1, 3, 5) and the outgoing load wires to the bottom terminals (marked 2, 4, 6).
- Ensure all wire ends are stripped to the appropriate length and fully inserted into the terminal blocks.
- Tighten the terminal screws with a screwdriver to a torque of 2.5 N·m. Over-tightening or under-tightening can lead to poor connections and potential hazards.
- The maximum connecting ability for wires is 16mm².
- Utilize bilateral busbar wiring capabilities if connecting multiple circuit breakers with busbars.
- Verification: Double-check all connections for tightness and correct polarity. Ensure no bare wires are exposed.
6. Operating Instructions
- Switching On: To energize the circuit, push the red toggle switch(es) upwards to the "ON" position. The indicator will show the contact position.
- Switching Off: To de-energize the circuit, push the red toggle switch(es) downwards to the "OFF" position.
- Trip Indication: If an overcurrent or short circuit occurs, the circuit breaker will automatically trip, moving the toggle switch(es) to an intermediate or "TRIPPED" position. The indicator will reflect this state.
- Resetting After a Trip:
- First, identify and rectify the cause of the trip (e.g., overloaded circuit, short circuit).
- Push the toggle switch(es) fully down to the "OFF" position.
- Then, push the toggle switch(es) upwards to the "ON" position to restore power.
- If the breaker trips immediately again, do not force it. Re-investigate the cause of the fault.
7. Maintenance
The GYM8 circuit breaker is designed for minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks are recommended:
- Visual Inspection: Regularly inspect the circuit breaker for any signs of physical damage, discoloration, or loose connections.
- Cleaning: If necessary, gently clean the exterior of the circuit breaker with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquids or abrasive cleaners.
- Terminal Tightness: Periodically check the tightness of the terminal screws, especially after initial installation and during routine electrical system checks. Ensure power is off before checking.
- Functionality Test: If your electrical system allows for safe testing, periodically test the trip mechanism by simulating an overload or short circuit (only by qualified personnel using appropriate testing equipment).
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Circuit breaker trips frequently. | Overloaded circuit, short circuit, ground fault, faulty appliance. | Reduce load on the circuit, disconnect faulty appliances, inspect wiring for shorts. If problem persists, consult a qualified electrician. |
| Circuit breaker does not reset. | Persistent fault (overload/short circuit), internal damage to the breaker. | Ensure the fault is cleared. If it still doesn't reset, the breaker may be damaged and needs replacement by a qualified electrician. |
| Breaker feels hot to the touch. | Loose connections, continuous overload, internal fault. | Immediately disconnect power. Check terminal tightness. Reduce load. If heating persists, replace the breaker. Consult a qualified electrician. |
For issues not covered here, or if you are unsure about any troubleshooting steps, always consult a qualified electrician.
