General Safety Instructions

Always observe basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Keep this manual for future reference.

  • Read the Manual: Familiarize yourself with all controls and proper use of the machine.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear eye protection (safety glasses or goggles), hearing protection, and heavy-duty gloves. Long pants and sturdy footwear are recommended.
  • Fuel Handling: Gasoline is highly flammable. Handle fuel outdoors in a well-ventilated area. Do not smoke or use open flames near fuel. Store fuel in approved containers.
  • Engine Operation: Never operate the engine indoors or in poorly ventilated areas. Exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, which is a dangerous gas.
  • Clear Work Area: Keep children, bystanders, and pets at a safe distance (at least 15 meters/50 feet) from the operating area. Remove any objects that could be thrown by the machine.
  • Inspect Before Use: Before each use, check the machine for loose fasteners, damaged parts, and proper assembly. Do not operate if damaged.
  • Avoid Contact: Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from moving parts, especially the shredder blades and fan.
  • Secure Grip: Always maintain a firm grip on the handles during operation.
  • Turn Off Engine: Always turn off the engine and allow it to cool before refueling, cleaning, or performing any maintenance.
  • Weather Conditions: Do not operate in rain or wet conditions.

Setup and Assembly

The IPOTOOLS EBV260A is designed for versatile use. Follow these steps for initial setup and assembly of different configurations.

1. Fuel Mixture Preparation

This unit uses a 2-stroke engine and requires a specific gasoline-to-oil mixture. Refer to the engine specifications for the correct ratio (typically 25:1 or 50:1, depending on the oil type). Use fresh, unleaded gasoline and high-quality 2-stroke engine oil.

  • Mix fuel in an approved container.
  • Pour the mixture into the fuel tank, ensuring not to overfill.
  • Securely close the fuel cap.

2. Assembling for Blower Mode

For blowing leaves and debris, attach the appropriate blow tube to the outlet. The unit comes with two blow tubes: a straight one for hard surfaces and a curved one for grassy areas.

  • Align the chosen blow tube with the blower outlet.
  • Push and twist until it locks securely in place.

3. Assembling for Vacuum/Shredder Mode

To vacuum and shred leaves, attach the suction tube and the collection bag.

  • Remove the blow tube if attached.
  • Attach the suction tube to the main intake opening. Ensure it clicks into place.
  • Connect the 40-liter collection bag to the discharge port. Ensure the bag's opening is fully secured around the port to prevent debris leakage.

Operating Instructions

1. Starting the Engine

  1. Prime the Carburetor: Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible in the return line.
  2. Set Choke: Move the choke lever to the "FULL CHOKE" position (cold start).
  3. Ignition Switch: Ensure the ignition switch is in the "ON" position.
  4. Pull Starter Cord: Hold the unit firmly and pull the starter cord with a rapid, continuous motion until the engine fires (usually 1-3 pulls). Do not pull the cord to its full extension.
  5. Adjust Choke: Once the engine fires, move the choke lever to the "HALF CHOKE" position. Pull the starter cord again until the engine starts and runs.
  6. Warm-up: Allow the engine to warm up for 30-60 seconds. Then, move the choke lever to the "RUN" position.
  7. Throttle Control: Use the throttle trigger to control engine speed.

For a warm engine start, the choke may not be necessary or only briefly needed in the "HALF CHOKE" position.

2. Using as a Leaf Blower

  • Ensure the correct blow tube is securely attached.
  • Start the engine as described above.
  • Direct the airflow towards the leaves or debris you wish to move. Use a sweeping motion.
  • Maintain a safe distance from objects and people.
  • Adjust engine speed with the throttle for optimal performance.

3. Using as a Leaf Vacuum and Shredder

  • Ensure the suction tube and collection bag are securely attached.
  • Start the engine.
  • Lower the suction tube over the leaves. The internal metal shredder blades will mulch the leaves as they are drawn into the bag.
  • Move the tube slowly over the area to be cleaned. Avoid picking up large sticks, stones, or other hard objects that could damage the shredder blades or fan.
  • Monitor the collection bag and empty it when full to maintain optimal suction.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your IPOTOOLS EBV260A.

1. Air Filter Cleaning

  • Turn off the engine and allow it to cool.
  • Locate and remove the air filter cover.
  • Carefully remove the air filter element.
  • Clean the filter using warm, soapy water or compressed air. If heavily soiled or damaged, replace it.
  • Allow the filter to dry completely before reinstallation.
  • Reinstall the filter and secure the cover.

2. Spark Plug Inspection and Replacement

  • Turn off the engine and allow it to cool.
  • Disconnect the spark plug cap.
  • Use a spark plug wrench to remove the spark plug.
  • Inspect the electrode for wear or carbon buildup. Clean with a wire brush if necessary.
  • Check the gap with a feeler gauge and adjust if needed (refer to specifications for correct gap).
  • If the plug is heavily fouled, damaged, or worn, replace it with a new one of the correct type.
  • Reinstall the spark plug and reconnect the cap.

3. Cleaning the Unit

  • After each use, especially when vacuuming, clean the intake and discharge areas to prevent buildup of debris.
  • Ensure the shredder blades are free of tangled material. Always turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug before inspecting the blades.
  • Wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or high-pressure water.

4. Fuel System and Storage

  • For long-term storage (over 30 days), drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel. This prevents fuel degradation and carburetor issues.
  • Store the unit in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
