3. Product Overview

The COTINSE Wireless Motion Sensor LED Light System consists of a plug-in receiver and battery-powered motion sensors. Key features include:

  • Wireless Range: Up to 500 feet (150 meters) between receiver and sensors.
  • Infrared Sensor Range: Approximately 13-16.5 feet (4-5 meters).
  • Detection Angle: Up to 110 degrees.
  • Ringtones: 58 selectable melodies.
  • Volume Levels: 5 adjustable levels, from 0dB (silent) to 110dB.
  • Visual Alert: LED indicator light flashes upon detection.
  • Expandable System: Each receiver can pair with up to 20 motion sensors.

3.1 Receiver Features

The motion sensor is battery-powered (2x AAA) and can be mounted on a wall. It offers 360° rotation, 90° swivel, and 90° tilt for optimal positioning. Internal switches allow for adjustment of sensing mode and LED light behavior.

4. Setup Instructions

4.1 Sensor Battery Installation

The sensors come with AAA batteries pre-installed. Ensure the batteries are correctly seated and the sensor's power switch (located on the side) is in the 'ON' position.

4.2 Receiver Power Connection

Plug the receiver into a standard electrical outlet. The receiver will power on automatically.

4.3 Pairing (Pre-paired)

The receiver and sensors are typically pre-paired at the factory. Upon powering both units, they should communicate automatically. If pairing is lost or you add new sensors, refer to the troubleshooting section for re-pairing instructions.

4.4 Mounting the Motion Sensor

Image 4.1: Sensor mounting steps.

  1. Choose a suitable location for the sensor, ensuring it is protected from direct weather exposure if outdoors.
  2. Use the provided screws and anchors to secure the mounting bracket to the wall.
  3. Attach the sensor to the mounting bracket.
  4. Adjust the sensor's angle (rotation, swivel, tilt) to cover the desired detection area.

Note: The sensor is not waterproof and should be placed under an overhang or in a sheltered area if used outdoors.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Adjusting Volume

Press the Volume Button on the side of the receiver to cycle through 5 volume levels (0dB, 25dB, 55dB, 85dB, 110dB). The 0dB setting provides a silent alert with only the LED flashing.

5.2 Changing Ringtones

Use the Up and Down buttons on the side of the receiver to browse through the 58 available ringtones. To save your preferred selection, press and hold the Volume Button for a few seconds until you hear a confirmation ding and the LEDs flash.

5.3 Adjusting Sensor Sensing Modes and LED Light

The motion sensor has internal switches (SW1 and SW2) to customize its behavior. You will need the small screwdriver provided to open the sensor casing.

  • SW2 for Sensing Modes:
    • Switch SW2 to the left: Detects motion every 1-2 seconds (Sensing Mode 1).
    • Switch SW2 to the right: Detects motion every 5-8 seconds (Sensing Mode 2 - Default Setting).
  • SW1 for LED Light:
    • Switch SW1 to the left: The three blue LEDs (D2, D3, D6) will light up when motion is detected.
    • Switch SW1 to the right: The three blue LEDs will NOT light up when motion is detected.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

When the sensor's battery is low, the D1 (Red) LED indicator will illuminate. Replace the AAA batteries as follows:

Image 6.1: Battery replacement steps.

  1. Carefully slide the back cover of the sensor downwards to open the battery compartment.
  2. Remove the old AAA batteries.
  3. Insert two new AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Slide the back cover upwards until it clicks into place.

Note: The sensor can also be powered via a Micro USB cable (not included), but this port does not charge installed batteries.

6.2 Cleaning

Wipe the receiver and sensors with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the devices.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Alert from Receiver:
    • Ensure the receiver is plugged into a working outlet.
    • Check if the sensor batteries are installed correctly and are not depleted.
    • Verify the sensor's power switch is 'ON'.
    • Ensure the distance between the sensor and receiver is within the 500 ft operating range and there are no significant obstructions.
    • If the volume is set to 0dB, only the LED will flash. Increase the volume if an audible alert is desired.
  • False Alarms:
    • Reposition the sensor to avoid areas with peripheral movement, direct sunlight, or strong light sources that might trigger it.
    • Adjust the sensor's detection angle to focus on the intended area.
    • Consider changing the sensing mode (SW2) to detect motion every 5-8 seconds, which may reduce sensitivity to minor disturbances.
  • Poor Wireless Range:
    • Ensure there are no large metal objects, thick walls, or other electronic devices interfering with the signal between the sensor and receiver.
    • Move the receiver or sensor to a more central location.
  • Adding/Re-pairing Sensors:
    • To pair a new sensor or re-pair an existing one, press and hold the Volume Button on the receiver until it emits a short beep and its LED flashes rapidly.
    • Within 10 seconds, trigger the motion sensor by waving your hand in front of it. The receiver will chime to confirm successful pairing.
