Installation Guide
Proper installation of the HK4 Hardwire Kit is crucial for optimal performance and battery protection. It is recommended to have basic automotive electrical knowledge or seek professional assistance for installation.
Components Overview:
- Hardwire Cable: 13.1ft (4m) in length.
- Red Battery Cable: Connects to a constant power source (always-on fuse).
- ACC Yellow Cable: Connects to an ignition-switched power source (ACC fuse).
- Ground Cable: Connects to the vehicle's metal body for grounding.
- Fuse Taps: The kit includes 8 pieces of full set circuit fuse taps to accommodate various fuse box types (ATO/ATC, MINI/ATS, Micro 2, Mini Low Profile).

Wiring Instructions:
- Identify Fuse Box: Locate your vehicle's fuse box (typically under the dashboard, in the engine bay, or trunk).
- Identify Power Sources:
- Find an "always-on" fuse for the Red Battery Cable. This fuse should have power even when the ignition is off.
- Find an "ignition-switched" (ACC) fuse for the ACC Yellow Cable. This fuse should only have power when the ignition is on.
- Use a multimeter to verify the power status of chosen fuses.
- Connect Fuse Taps: Select the appropriate fuse tap for your vehicle's fuse type. Insert the original fuse into the lower slot of the fuse tap and a new fuse (of the same rating) for the dash cam into the upper slot.
- Connect Cables:
- Connect the Red Battery Cable to the "always-on" fuse tap.
- Connect the ACC Yellow Cable to the "ignition-switched" fuse tap.
- Secure the Ground Cable (black wire with ring terminal) to a clean, unpainted metal bolt or screw on the vehicle's chassis.
- Route Cables: Carefully route the hardwire cable from the fuse box to the dash cam's mounting location, tucking it behind vehicle trim for a clean installation.
- Connect to Dash Cam: Plug the Type-C connector of the hardwire kit into the compatible VIOFO dash cam.

Operating Instructions
Automatic Parking Mode:
Once correctly installed, the HK4 kit enables automatic switching between normal recording and parking mode based on your vehicle's ignition status.
- When the vehicle engine is ON, the dash cam will operate in normal recording mode.
- When the vehicle engine is OFF, the dash cam will automatically switch to parking mode, providing continuous surveillance.

Battery Discharge Prevention:
The HK4 hardwire kit allows you to set a voltage cut-off value to prevent excessive discharge of your vehicle's battery. If the battery voltage drops to the pre-set cut-off value, the kit will stop powering the dash cam.
Configurable Voltage Cut-off Options:
- For 12V systems: 11.8V, 12.0V, 12.2V, 12.4V
- For 24V systems: 23.6V, 24.0V, 24.4V, 24.8V

Maintenance and Care
- Regularly check all cable connections to ensure they are secure and free from damage.
- Inspect fuse taps periodically for corrosion or loose connections.
- Ensure the dash cam's firmware is up to date for optimal performance and compatibility with the hardwire kit.
- Keep the hardwire unit clean and free from dust or debris.
Troubleshooting
- Dash Cam Not Powering On:
- Check all cable connections (Red, Yellow, Ground) for proper seating.
- Verify that the chosen fuses in the vehicle's fuse box are receiving power using a multimeter.
- Ensure the fuse taps are correctly inserted and making good contact.
- Confirm the dash cam is compatible with the HK4 kit (refer to Compatibility section).
- Parking Mode Not Activating:
- Ensure the ACC (yellow) cable is connected to an ignition-switched fuse.
- Verify that the dash cam's parking mode settings are correctly configured.
- Check the voltage cut-off setting on the HK4 unit; if the battery voltage is already below the set threshold, parking mode will not activate.
- Battery Drain Issues:
- Adjust the voltage cut-off setting on the HK4 unit to a higher value to prevent deeper discharge.
- Ensure the "always-on" fuse for the red cable is indeed constant power and not switching off unexpectedly.
- Intermittent Power:
- Check for loose connections at the fuse box, ground point, or the dash cam's Type-C port.
- Ensure the fuse taps are securely holding the fuses and making proper electrical contact.
