2. Setup and Installation

2.1 Rear-Facing Installation

The Radian 3R supports rear-facing installation for children weighing 5 to 50 pounds and up to 44.1 inches in height. Ensure the car seat is properly reclined according to the child's weight and age, and that the vehicle's seat belt or LATCH system is used correctly to secure the seat tightly.

2.2 Forward-Facing Installation

For forward-facing with harness, the car seat is suitable for children weighing 26.5 to 65 pounds and a minimum height of 29.9 inches. Always use the top tether in addition to the vehicle's seat belt or LATCH system when installing forward-facing.

2.3 Booster Mode Setup

The high-back booster mode is for children weighing 40 to 120 pounds. In this mode, the child is secured using the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt. Ensure the shoulder belt lies flat across the child's collarbone and chest, and the lap belt is low on the hips, touching the upper thighs.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Harness Adjustment

The Diono Radian 3R features an easy-adjust harness system. To adjust the harness height, locate the harness adjustment lever at the top of the seat back. Squeeze the lever and slide the headrest and harness straps up or down to the appropriate position. For rear-facing, the harness straps should be at or below the child's shoulders. For forward-facing, they should be at or above the child's shoulders.

3.2 Securing Your Child

1. Place your child in the car seat with their back flat against the seat back.
2. Pull the harness straps over their shoulders and between their legs.
3. Buckle the crotch buckle, ensuring it clicks securely.
4. Connect the chest clip at armpit level.
5. Tighten the harness straps until snug. The harness should be tight enough that you cannot pinch any excess webbing at the child's shoulder.

4. Maintenance and Care

4.1 Cleaning the Fabric

The fabric covers of the Diono Radian 3R are machine washable. Refer to the care label on the fabric for specific washing instructions. Typically, covers can be machine washed in cold water on a delicate cycle and air-dried. Do not use bleach or harsh detergents.

4.2 Cleaning the Harness and Buckles

Wipe the harness straps with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash or submerge harness straps in water, as this can weaken the webbing. Clean the buckle by rinsing it under warm water and allowing it to air dry. Do not use lubricants or solvents on the buckle.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Car Seat Feels Loose After Installation

• Ensure the vehicle's seat belt or LATCH strap is pulled as tightly as possible.
• Check that the car seat is installed at the correct recline angle for the child's weight and age.
• For forward-facing, confirm the top tether is attached and tightened.
• Verify that the car seat does not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.

5.2 Harness Straps Are Difficult to Tighten or Loosen

• Check for any twists in the harness webbing behind the car seat shell.
• Ensure the harness adjuster strap is not obstructed.
• Make sure the chest clip is unbuckled and pushed down before attempting to loosen the harness.

5.3 Buckle Is Sticking

• Food crumbs or debris may be lodged in the buckle. Follow the cleaning instructions in Section 4.2 to rinse the buckle.
• Do not use oils or lubricants on the buckle.
