5. Setup & Installation

The LANKEGU Hotend Kit comes pre-assembled for straightforward replacement. Follow these steps for installation:

  1. Power Off: Ensure your 3D printer is completely powered off and unplugged from the power source before beginning any installation.
  2. Access Hotend: Carefully open the print head assembly of your Anycubic Kobra 2 series printer to access the existing hotend. Refer to your printer's specific manual for detailed instructions on accessing this area.
  3. Disconnect Wires: Gently disconnect the heating tube and thermistor wires from the main board or connector. Note their original positions.

Important Note: Before use, please check whether the heating tube and thermistor are tightened and whether the nozzle is fixed well to avoid printing problems. Loose connections can lead to errors or poor print quality.

6. Operation Guidelines

Once installed, the hotend kit operates as part of your 3D printer's extrusion system. Here are general guidelines:

  • Pre-heating: Always pre-heat the hotend to the recommended temperature for your chosen filament before starting a print.
  • Filament Loading: Follow your printer's instructions for loading 1.75mm filament into the hotend.
  • Print Speed: This hotend kit supports print speeds of up to 250mm/s. Adjust your slicer settings accordingly for optimal results, considering the capabilities of your specific printer model and filament.
  • Temperature Settings: Use appropriate temperature settings for your filament type (e.g., PLA, ABS). Refer to filament manufacturer recommendations.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and consistent performance of your hotend kit:

  • Nozzle Cleaning/Replacement: Periodically inspect the nozzle for wear or clogs. The kit includes five spare 0.4mm brass nozzles for replacement. Replace nozzles when print quality degrades or clogs become persistent.
  • Silicone Sock: The silicone sock helps maintain thermal stability. Replace it if it becomes damaged or worn. The kit includes five spare silicone socks.
  • Heat Break/Throat: Ensure the heat break (throat) is clean and free of filament residue to prevent heat creep and clogs.
  • Wire Inspection: Regularly check the heating tube and thermistor wires for any signs of damage or fraying.

8. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues that may arise with your hotend kit:

  • No Filament Extrusion:
    • Check for clogged nozzle: Replace with a new 0.4mm nozzle from the kit.
    • Verify hotend temperature: Ensure it reaches and maintains the set temperature.
    • Check filament path: Ensure the filament is not tangled or obstructed before entering the hotend.
  • Poor Print Quality (e.g., stringing, blobs):
    • Adjust retraction settings in your slicer.
    • Ensure the nozzle is clean and not worn. Replace if necessary.
    • Verify print temperature settings for your filament.
  • Temperature Fluctuations/Errors:
    • Check thermistor and heating rod connections for looseness or damage.
    • Ensure the silicone sock is properly installed and intact.
    • Perform a PID tune on your printer if temperature stability issues persist.
  • Filament Leaking Around Nozzle/Heat Block:
    • Ensure the nozzle is properly tightened against the heat break while the hotend is heated to printing temperature. (Caution: Handle with care to avoid burns.)
    • Verify the heat break is securely seated in the heat block.
