Setup and Installation

Professional installation is recommended for this product. Ensure all local plumbing codes are followed. Before beginning, gather necessary tools such as a screwdriver, adjustable wrench, sealant, and a bucket.

1. Prepare the Sink Opening

Ensure the sink's drain opening is clean and free from debris. If replacing an existing waste kit, remove all old components and clean the area thoroughly.

2. Install the Drain Basket

  1. Apply a bead of plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the flange of the drain basket.
  2. Insert the drain basket into the sink's drain opening from above.
  3. From underneath the sink, place the rubber gasket, then the friction washer, and finally thread the large nut onto the drain body.
  4. Tighten the nut securely by hand, then use an adjustable wrench for a final snug turn. Do not overtighten.

3. Connect the Overflow

  1. Attach the overflow pipe to the overflow opening in the sink bowl. Ensure the gasket is properly seated.
  2. Connect the other end of the overflow pipe to the designated inlet on the main waste body. Secure with the provided nut or clamp.

4. Assemble the Eccentric Control

  1. Route the eccentric control cable from the drain plug mechanism to the desired location for the rotary knob (usually a pre-drilled hole in the sink or countertop).
  2. Attach the rotary knob assembly to the cable and secure it in place according to the specific instructions provided with your sink or countertop.
  3. Ensure the cable moves freely and the drain plug opens and closes smoothly when the knob is operated.

5. Connect to Waste Pipe

Connect the outlet of the waste kit to your household's main waste pipe system. Ensure all connections are watertight using appropriate seals and tightening methods.

6. Test for Leaks

Fill the sink with water and then release it. Carefully inspect all connections for any signs of leakage. Tighten connections as necessary.

Operation

The FRANKE 112.0687.564 waste kit features an eccentric control for the drain plug.

  • To Close the Drain: Rotate the eccentric control knob (usually located on the sink or countertop) to the 'closed' position. This will lower the drain plug, sealing the sink.
  • To Open the Drain: Rotate the eccentric control knob to the 'open' position. This will lift the drain plug, allowing water to flow out of the sink.

The overflow function operates automatically. If the water level in the sink rises above the overflow opening, excess water will drain through the overflow channel, preventing spillage.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and proper functioning of your waste and overflow kit.

Cleaning the Drain Basket

Periodically remove any food particles or debris from the drain basket. The basket can usually be lifted out for easy cleaning. Use a soft brush and mild detergent if necessary.

Cleaning the Overflow

The overflow channel can accumulate grime over time. Clean it by pouring a mixture of hot water and mild detergent down the overflow opening. A flexible brush can be used for stubborn blockages.

Eccentric Control Mechanism

If the eccentric control becomes stiff or difficult to operate, check the cable for obstructions or kinks. A small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to moving parts if accessible, but avoid petroleum-based lubricants as they can damage plastic components.

Leak Checks

Occasionally inspect the connections under the sink for any signs of leaks or drips. Address any issues promptly to prevent water damage.
