Setup

Follow these steps to prepare your ANCEL L100 PRO for operation:

  1. Fill with Smoke Oil: Unscrew the oil filler cap on top of the unit. Use the provided funnel to pour approximately 20ml of smoke oil (mineral oil or baby oil) into the unit. Do not overfill; ensure the oil level is below the MAX line indicated by the sight glass.

  2. Install Hook: Screw the hanging hook into the designated port on the top of the unit. This allows you to suspend the device during testing.
  3. Connect Hoses and Adapters: Attach the delivery hose to the smoke outlet port. Select the appropriate adapter or block-off cap for the system you intend to test and connect it to the delivery hose.
  4. Connect to Vehicle Power: Connect the red battery clamp to the positive (+) terminal of your vehicle's 12V battery and the black clamp to the negative (-) terminal. Ensure a secure connection.

Applications

The ANCEL L100 PRO is versatile and can be used to diagnose leaks in a wide range of vehicle systems, including:

  • EVAP System: Detects leaks in the evaporative emission control system, which operates at low pressure. The L100 PRO's smart regulator safely maintains 0.5 PSI to prevent damage.
  • Vacuum Leaks: Identifies leaks in vacuum lines and components.
  • Fuel System: Pinpoints leaks in fuel lines, tanks, and related components.
  • Exhaust System: Detects leaks in exhaust pipes, manifolds, and mufflers.
  • Intake Pipes: Locates leaks in the engine's air intake system.
  • Crankcase System: Checks for leaks in the crankcase ventilation system.
  • Cooling System: Can be used to identify leaks in the cooling system.
  • Wind/Water Leaks: The smoke diffuser can help locate leaks around doors, windows, sunroofs, and trunk compartment seals.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your ANCEL L100 PRO Smoke Machine:

  • Smoke Oil Level: Regularly check the smoke oil level using the sight glass. Refill when low, ensuring not to exceed the MAX line.
  • Cool-down Periods: The unit has a 5-minute maximum continuous run time. Allow the machine to cool down for 5 to 10 minutes after each cycle to prevent overheating and ensure consistent smoke production.
  • Storage: Store the unit in a dry, clean environment. Ensure all hoses and accessories are properly detached and stored to prevent damage.
  • Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior of the unit with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ANCEL L100 PRO, consider the following common solutions:

  • No Smoke Production:
    • Check smoke oil level; refill if too low.
    • Ensure the unit is not overfilled with smoke oil, as this can prevent smoke production.
    • Verify power connection to the vehicle battery.
    • Allow adequate cool-down time if the unit has been running continuously.
  • Inconsistent Smoke Output:
    • Adjust the flow control knob to a stable setting.
    • Check for kinks or blockages in the delivery hose.
    • Ensure the unit has sufficient smoke oil.
  • Digital Display Not Lighting Up:
    • Confirm proper connection to the 12V vehicle battery.
    • Check the power switch is in the "ON" position.
