4. Setup Guide

4.1 Placement

Place the receiver on a stable, level surface with adequate ventilation. Avoid placing it near heat sources or in direct sunlight. Ensure sufficient space around the unit for proper airflow.

4.2 Connecting Speakers

Connect your speakers to the speaker terminals on the rear panel. The R-N800A supports two sets of speakers (A and B) and a subwoofer output. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for each speaker. The receiver supports speaker impedances of 4Ω to 16Ω.

• Speaker A/B: Connect your main stereo speakers to the SPEAKER A terminals. If using a second pair of speakers, connect them to SPEAKER B.

4.3 Connecting Audio Sources

The R-N800A offers a variety of input options:

• Analog Inputs (CD, LINE 1/2): Use RCA cables to connect external audio components like CD players or other line-level devices.

4.4 Network Connection

Connect the receiver to your home network for streaming services and MusicCast functionality.

• Wired Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the NETWORK terminal on the rear panel.
• Wireless Connection (Wi-Fi): Attach the included Wi-Fi/Bluetooth antenna to the rear panel. Follow the on-screen instructions or use the MusicCast app to configure Wi-Fi settings.

4.5 YPAO Automatic Room Calibration

The YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer) system automatically analyzes room acoustics and adjusts audio settings for optimal sound quality.

1. Connect the supplied YPAO microphone to the YPAO MIC jack on the front panel.
2. Place the microphone at your primary listening position, ideally at ear height.

5. Operation

5.1 Basic Controls (Front Panel)

• Power Button: Turns the unit on or off.
• Input Selector: Rotates to select the desired audio input source (CD, Phono, Line, Optical, Coaxial, USB DAC, Net).
• Volume Knob: Adjusts the overall output volume.
• Bass/Treble/Balance: Adjusts tone and channel balance.
• Loudness: Compensates for the human ear's reduced sensitivity to low and high frequencies at low volumes.
• Pure Direct: Bypasses tone controls and other processing for the purest audio signal.

6. Maintenance
