2. Setup

2.1 Setting Time and Date

  1. Pull the Crown: Gently pull the crown (the small knob on the side of the watch case) out to position 2 for setting the date, or position 3 for setting the time.
  2. Set the Date: In position 2, rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
  3. Set the Time: In position 3, rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands. Set the time to the desired hour, ensuring the AM/PM is correct if your watch has a 24-hour indicator or if you are setting the date.
  4. Push the Crown Back: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back into position 1 (fully in) to start the watch movement.

2.2 Battery Information

Your Swatch watch comes with one CR2 battery pre-installed. This battery powers the quartz movement. For optimal performance, ensure the crown is always pushed in when not setting the time or date.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Reading the Time and Date

  • The hour, minute, and second hands indicate the current time.
  • The date window displays the current day of the month.
  • The day of the week is displayed next to the date window.

3.2 Water Resistance

This watch has a water resistance rating of 100 feet (3 ATM). This means it is suitable for splashes, rain, and brief immersion in water. It is not recommended for swimming, diving, or prolonged water activities. Avoid exposing the watch to hot water or steam, as this can compromise the seals.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning Your Watch

  • Wipe the watch case and strap with a soft, dry cloth regularly to remove dust and dirt.
  • For more thorough cleaning, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the watch materials.

4.2 Battery Replacement

When the watch stops running or the second hand begins to jump every few seconds (indicating a low battery), it is time for a battery replacement. Swatch offers free battery exchange at authorized Swatch retail locations. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by a professional to ensure proper sealing and water resistance.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running:
    • Ensure the crown is fully pushed in (position 1).
    • The battery may need replacement. Refer to Section 4.2.
  • Incorrect Time/Date:
    • Refer to Section 2.1 for instructions on how to correctly set the time and date.
  • Condensation Under Crystal:
    • Small amounts of condensation may appear temporarily due to sudden temperature changes. If it persists or large droplets appear, contact Swatch customer support as this may indicate a breach in water resistance.
