2. Safety Instructions

4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Mounting
- Select the lowest point in the bilge where water collects.
- Securely mount the pump using appropriate fasteners through the base. Ensure the pump is level for optimal operation of the internal sensor.
4.2 Wiring
The pump operates on a 12V DC power supply. Proper wiring is critical for safety and functionality.
- Automatic Mode: Connect the brown and white wire to the positive (+) anode of your 12V power source. The black wire connects to the negative (-) cathode. In this configuration, the pump will operate automatically based on water level.
- Manual Mode: Connect the brown wire to the positive (+) anode of your 12V power source. The black wire connects to the negative (-) cathode. This configuration allows for manual control, typically via an external switch (not included).
- Ensure all connections are watertight and protected from corrosion.
4.3 Hose Connection
- Connect a 1-1/8 inch (29 mm) discharge hose to the pump's outlet nozzle.
- Route the hose upwards to a through-hull fitting, ensuring a continuous upward slope to prevent airlocks and backflow.
- The integrated check valve helps prevent water from flowing back into the bilge once the pump stops.
- The pump features hidden air vents in its body to assist in preventing airlock in challenging plumbing installations.
5. Operating Instructions
The Seaflo Automatic Bilge Pump is designed for hands-free operation when wired for automatic mode.
5.1 Automatic Operation
- When the water level in the bilge reaches approximately 4.5 cm (1.77 inches), the integrated sensor will activate the pump.
- The pump will run for 0.5 seconds and then check for water every 2.5 minutes.
- The pump will continue to operate until the water level drops to between 1 cm and 3 cm (0.39 to 1.18 inches), at which point it will automatically shut off.

5.2 Manual Operation (if wired for manual control)
- If the pump is wired for manual operation (brown wire to positive), it will run continuously when the external switch is engaged.
- Ensure the pump is not run dry for extended periods, as this can cause damage.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your bilge pump.
- Cleaning the Strainer: The removable strainer base allows for easy cleaning. Periodically remove the base and clear any debris (leaves, hair, etc.) that may have accumulated and could obstruct the impeller or intake.
- Inspect Wiring: Regularly check all electrical connections for corrosion, fraying, or loose terminals. Ensure waterproof seals are intact.
- Check Hose: Inspect the discharge hose for kinks, blockages, or leaks.
- Test Operation: Periodically test the pump's automatic function by adding water to the bilge to ensure it activates and deactivates correctly.
