Setup and Installation
The AKEEYO NV-X offers two primary mounting options: Rearview Mirror Mount or Center Console Mount. Choose the option that best suits your vehicle and preference.
1. Rearview Mirror Mount
- Secure the main mirror unit to your existing rearview mirror using the provided rubber mounting straps. Ensure it is firmly attached and does not obstruct your view.
- Connect the front camera cable to the main unit. Adjust the front camera's 360° swivel bracket to achieve the desired recording angle.
- Install the rear camera. It can be mounted either inside the vehicle (e.g., on the rear window) or outside (e.g., near the license plate) due to its waterproof design. Use the rear camera bracket for secure attachment.
- Route the rear camera cable from the rear of the vehicle to the main unit, ensuring it is neatly tucked away using the car wire trim tool.
- Connect the GPS antenna to the main unit and place it in a location with clear sky view (e.g., on the dashboard).
- Insert the 64GB memory card into the designated slot on the main unit.
- Connect the car charger to the main unit and plug it into your vehicle's 12V power outlet.
2. Center Console Mount
- Attach the mirror screen bracket to the main unit.
- Place the main unit on your vehicle's dashboard using the bracket, ensuring it is stable and does not interfere with driving controls or airbags.
- Follow steps 2-7 from the Rearview Mirror Mount instructions for connecting cameras, GPS, memory card, and power.

Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off
The device will automatically power on when your vehicle starts and power off when the engine is turned off (if connected to a switched power source). You can also manually power it on/off by pressing and holding the power button.
2. Basic Recording
Once powered on and a memory card is inserted, the device will automatically begin loop recording. Video segments are recorded in predefined lengths (e.g., 1, 3, or 5 minutes) and saved to the memory card. When the card is full, the oldest unlocked files will be overwritten.
3. Touchscreen Operation
The 12-inch IPS touchscreen allows for intuitive control:
- Brightness Adjustment: Tap the screen and use the on-screen controls to select high, medium, or low brightness levels.
- Camera Angle Adjustment: Swipe up or down on the screen to adjust the viewing angle of the active camera.
- Split Screen Display: The device supports single-channel (front or rear) or dual-channel (split screen) display. Tap the screen to access options for switching between views.
- HUD Mode: Activate HUD (Head-Up Display) mode to show essential driving information like speed, date, direction, and time on the screen.
- Screen Protector Mode: Turn off the screen while recording continues in the background to minimize distraction. Tap the screen to reactivate.

4. Advanced Features
- Emergency Lock (G-Sensor): The built-in G-sensor detects sudden impacts or collisions. When triggered, it automatically locks the current video segment to prevent it from being overwritten by loop recording. This ensures critical footage is preserved.
- Reversing Aid: When your vehicle is shifted into reverse, the rearview image will automatically display parking guidelines on the screen. The system also lowers the rearview angle for a closer perspective, assisting with parking maneuvers.
- GPS Tracking: The GPS module synchronizes recorded videos with location, speed, and time data. You can replay your driving route information on a PC using a compatible GPS viewer (e.g., DV PLAYER).
- Blind Spot Detection (BSD): This feature provides audible warnings and red flashing borders on the screen when objects are detected in your left or right blind spots, enhancing safety during lane changes, especially in low-visibility conditions.
- Parking Monitor: For continuous 24-hour parking monitoring, an additional power cable (hardwire kit, ASIN: B0CH9Y23TN) is required and sold separately. This feature allows the dash cam to record events even when the vehicle is parked.

Maintenance
- Memory Card Formatting: It is recommended to format the memory card regularly (e.g., once a month) to ensure optimal performance and prevent data corruption. This can usually be done through the device's settings menu.
- Lens Cleaning: Keep the camera lenses clean to ensure clear video quality. Use a soft, lint-free cloth and a lens cleaning solution if necessary. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the lens.
- Firmware Updates: Check the AKEEYO official website periodically for firmware updates. Keeping your device's firmware up-to-date can improve performance, add new features, and fix bugs.
- Temperature Considerations: The device is designed to operate in a wide temperature range (-10°F to 156°F) thanks to its super capacitor. However, avoid prolonged exposure to extreme direct sunlight when parked to prolong device lifespan.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | No power supply; loose connection; faulty car charger. | Check car charger connection and vehicle's 12V outlet. Ensure the car charger is working. Try a different power source if available. |
| Recording stops intermittently. | Memory card full; slow memory card; memory card error. | Format the memory card. Use a high-speed (Class 10 or U3) memory card. Replace the memory card if issues persist. |
| Video footage is blurry or unclear. | Dirty lens; protective film still on lens. | Clean the camera lenses with a soft cloth. Remove any protective film from the lenses. |
| GPS signal not found. | GPS antenna obstructed; antenna not connected properly. | Ensure GPS antenna has a clear view of the sky. Check the connection of the GPS antenna to the main unit. |
| Screen is unresponsive. | Temporary software glitch. | Restart the device by disconnecting and reconnecting power. If issue persists, perform a factory reset (refer to device settings). |
