Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to correctly set up your Douk Audio L3 RCA Audio Switch.

1. Power Connection

• Connect the provided USB cable to the POWER IN (5VDC 1A) port on the rear panel of the L3 unit.
• Plug the other end of the USB cable into a compatible 5VDC 1A USB power adapter (not included) or a USB port on a device that can supply sufficient power.

2. Audio Connections

The L3 supports multiple configurations. Ensure all audio cables are securely connected to the correct RCA ports.

2.1. 3-IN-1-OUT Mode

Use this mode to connect up to three audio sources to a single amplifier or active speaker system.

• Connect your audio sources (e.g., PC, CD player, MP3 player) to the IN ports of Channels 1, 2, and 3 (labeled RETURN 1, RETURN 2, RETURN 3).
• Connect your amplifier or active speakers to the OUT ports.
• In this mode, only one input channel can be active at a time. The VU meters may not function in this configuration.

2.2. 1-IN-3-OUT Mode

Use this mode to connect a single audio source to up to three different amplifiers or active speaker systems.

• Connect your audio source to the IN ports.
• Connect your amplifiers or active speakers to the OUT ports of Channels 1, 2, and 3 (labeled SENT 1, SENT 2, SENT 3).
• In this mode, only one output channel can be active at a time. The VU meters may not function in this configuration.

2.3. Loop Mode (for Preamps, Equalizers, Effectors)

This mode allows you to integrate up to three external audio processors (preamps, equalizers, effectors) into your audio chain.

• Connect your main audio source to the IN ports.
• For each loop (Channel 1, 2, or 3):
• Connect the SENT port of the channel to the input of your external audio processor.
• Connect the output of your external audio processor to the RETURN port of the same channel.
• Connect your amplifier or active speakers to the OUT ports.
• This configuration allows you to switch between different audio processing chains or bypass them. The VU meters are typically active in this mode.

Operating Instructions

1. Switching Channels

• Use the numbered buttons (1, 2, 3) on the front panel to select the desired audio channel. The active channel's button will illuminate.
• Alternatively, use the corresponding numbered buttons on the remote control to switch channels.

2. VU Meter Operation

The dual VU meters display the real-time audio signal level. The backlight color and brightness are adjustable.

2.1. Adjusting Backlight Color and Brightness

• Locate the VU Meter color adjustment knob on the rear panel (next to the POWER IN port).
• Rotate this knob to cycle through different backlight colors for the VU meters.
• Use the brightness control buttons on the remote control (sun icon) to adjust the intensity of the backlight.

3. Bypass Function

The bypass function allows you to instantly switch between the processed audio signal (through the loops) and the original, unaltered signal.

• Press the Bypass button on the remote control to activate or deactivate the bypass mode.
• When bypass is active, the audio signal from the IN port is routed directly to the OUT port, bypassing any connected external processors in the loops.

4. Remote Control

The included remote control provides convenient access to channel switching, VU meter brightness, and bypass functions.

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the unit. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the finish or internal components.

Troubleshooting

• No Sound Output:

  • The L3 has a built-in power isolation circuit to reduce common ground noise; however, ensure all connected devices are properly grounded.
• VU Meters Not Responding or Stuck:
  • Ensure there is an active audio signal passing through the unit.
  • Confirm the unit is in a mode where VU meters are designed to be active (typically Loop mode or 3-in-1-out with a single active output). In some 1-in-3-out configurations, the VU meters may not display activity.
  • Gently tap the unit to see if a stuck needle frees up. If the issue persists, power cycle the device.
  • Check the VU meter backlight color and brightness settings.
• Remote Control Not Working:
  • Ensure the remote control has fresh batteries and they are inserted correctly.
  • Point the remote directly at the IR receiver on the front panel of the L3 unit.
  • Remove any obstructions between the remote and the unit.
• No Volume Control:
  • The Douk Audio L3 is an audio switcher, not a preamplifier with volume control. Volume adjustments must be made on your connected audio source or amplifier.
