3. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to install your M.2 SSD into the enclosure:
- Open the Enclosure: Use the supplied screwdriver to open the enclosure. The top aluminum cover will slide off or hinge open.
- Insert the SSD: Carefully insert your M.2 SSD into the card slot at a 45-degree angle. Ensure it is fully seated.
- Secure the SSD: Gently push the SSD down until it is parallel with the PCB. Use one of the rubber fasteners to secure the end of the SSD into the designated hole. This replaces the traditional screw.
- Apply Thermal Pad: Peel off the protective films from both sides of the thermal pad. Place the thermal pad onto the SSD, ensuring it covers the main chips for optimal heat transfer.
- Close the Enclosure: Reattach the aluminum cover and secure it with the screw.
- Connect to Device: Connect the enclosure to your computer or compatible device using the provided USB-C to C or USB-A to C cable.
- Format New SSD (Important): For new SSDs, you must partition and format the drive before it can be recognized and used by your operating system. Access Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) to perform this action.

5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ORICO M.2 NVMe SATA SSD Enclosure, consider the following maintenance guidelines:
- Heat Dissipation: The aluminum top cover is designed to aid in heat dissipation. Ensure the enclosure is not covered or placed in an area with poor airflow during extended use.
- Cleaning: Keep the enclosure clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Avoid liquid cleaners.
- Physical Protection: Handle the enclosure with care to prevent physical damage. Avoid dropping it or exposing it to extreme temperatures or moisture.

6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your ORICO M.2 NVMe SATA SSD Enclosure, please refer to the following common solutions:
- SSD Not Recognized:
- Ensure the SSD is correctly installed and secured within the enclosure.
- Verify that the USB cable is securely connected to both the enclosure and your host device.
- If it is a new SSD, it must be partitioned and formatted before first use. Check your operating system's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) to initialize and format the drive.
- Confirm that the SSD type (NVMe or SATA) and key (M-Key, B+M Key) are compatible with the enclosure.
- Try connecting the enclosure to a different USB port or a different computer to rule out port or system issues.
- Slow Data Transfer Speed:
- Ensure the enclosure is connected to a USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) compatible port on your host device. Connecting to a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 (5 Gbps) port will result in lower speeds.
- Verify that your SSD itself is capable of high speeds.
- Check the integrity of the USB cable. Try using a different cable if available.
- Enclosure Gets Hot:
- It is normal for the enclosure to become warm during high-speed data transfer, as the aluminum casing is designed to dissipate heat from the SSD. This indicates proper heat management.
- Ensure the thermal pad is correctly installed between the SSD and the aluminum cover.
