This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Satechi Dual USB C Docking Station and Stand. Please read thoroughly before use.

Product Overview

The Satechi Dual USB C Docking Station is designed to expand the connectivity of your MacBook or Windows laptop. It features a Gigabit Ethernet port, a DisplayPort, dual HDMI ports, an SSD enclosure, and multiple USB-A and USB-C data ports. It also provides 75W USB-C Power Delivery to keep your device charged.

Setup Guide

To ensure full functionality, connect both USB-C cables from the docking station to your laptop's USB-C ports. This dual connection is essential for all ports to operate correctly, including video output and power delivery.

SSD Enclosure Installation

The docking station includes an integrated SSD enclosure compatible with NVMe SSDs (up to 10Gbps) and SATA SSDs (up to 6Gbps). To install an SSD:

  1. Locate the SSD enclosure bay on the underside of the docking station.
  2. Use the provided screwdriver to remove the cover.
  3. Carefully insert your M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD into the slot.
  4. Secure the SSD with the provided screw.
  5. Replace the cover and secure it with the screws.

Note: NVMe & SATA SSD not included. The speed mentioned above is theoretical and will depend on the SSD installed and host device connected.

Operating Instructions

Dual Monitor Setup

The docking station supports dual external monitors in extended mode, enhancing your workspace. You can choose between two HDMI ports or one DisplayPort and one HDMI port (using the two farthest ports).

Mac OS Dual Display (4K/60Hz):

  • Connect two monitors using either two HDMI cables or one DisplayPort and one HDMI cable.
  • Ensure both USB-C connectors from the dock are connected to your MacBook.
  • Note: MacBook M1/M2/M3 Pro models are limited to one external monitor in extended mode. DP and HDMI 1 port cannot be used simultaneously.

Windows Dual Display (4K/60Hz):

  • Connect two monitors using either two HDMI cables or one DisplayPort and one HDMI cable.
  • Ensure both USB-C connectors from the dock are connected to your Windows laptop.
  • Note: DP and HDMI 1 port cannot be used simultaneously.

Power Delivery

The docking station features a dedicated USB-C power port that delivers up to 75W to charge your connected device. This port is for power delivery only and does not support data transfer or video output.

Data Transfer

Utilize the multiple USB-A and USB-C data ports for connecting peripherals and transferring data at speeds up to 10Gbps.

Care and Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Satechi docking station, follow these guidelines:

  • Keep the device clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • Ensure proper ventilation. The docking station is designed with bottom vents for airflow to dissipate heat effectively.
  • The normal operating temperature of the device is 86-122°F (30-50°C), with auto-shut off if temperature rises beyond 122°F (50°C).

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • No display output or limited external monitors:

    Ensure both USB-C connectors from the docking station are securely connected to your laptop. For MacBooks with M1/M2/M3 Pro chips, note that they are limited to supporting only one external monitor in extended mode.

  • Power Delivery port not transferring data/video:

    The 75W USB-C Power Delivery port is designed exclusively for charging and does not support data transfer or video output. Use dedicated data ports for peripherals.

  • Device not recognized or intermittent connection:

    Verify that your laptop is compatible with the docking station. It is compatible with a wide range of MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Microsoft Surface Pro, Surface Laptop models, and Dell XPS 15. It is not compatible with iPhone 15 and MacBook models with a single USB-C port.
