Setup

Before using your kettle for the first time, follow these steps:

1. Unpack: Carefully remove the kettle and all its components from the packaging. Retain packaging for storage or shipping.
2. Clean: Wash the inside of the kettle with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Wipe the exterior of the kettle and the power base with a damp cloth.
3. Placement: Place the power base on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Ensure the power cord is plugged into a grounded electrical outlet.
4. Initial Boil: Fill the kettle with water to the MAX fill line (1.7L). Press the 'BOIL' button, then 'START/OFF'. Allow the water to boil, then discard it. This cleans the interior and removes any manufacturing residue. Repeat if desired.

Operating Instructions

Your Cuisinart PerfecTemp Kettle offers precise temperature control for optimal beverage preparation.

1. Fill the Kettle: Press the 'OPEN' button on the handle to open the lid. Fill the kettle with fresh, cold water to your desired level, ensuring it is between the MIN and MAX fill lines on the water level window. Close the lid securely.
2. Place on Power Base: Position the kettle securely on the power base.
3. Select Temperature: Use the '+' and '-' buttons on the control panel to cycle through the preset temperatures. The LCD display will show the selected temperature and recommended beverage type:
   • 160°F (Delicate)
   • 175°F (Green)
   • 185°F (White)
   • 190°F (Oolong)
   • 200°F (French Press)
   • 212°F (Boil/Black/Herbal)
   Alternatively, you can press the 'PROG' button to cycle through these presets directly, or 'BOIL' for 212°F.
4. Start Heating: Press the 'START/OFF' button to begin the heating cycle. The water level window will illuminate blue, indicating the kettle is active.
5. Keep Warm Function: To activate the 'KEEP WARM' function, press the 'KEEP WARM' button before or during the heating cycle. The kettle will maintain the selected temperature for 30 minutes after reaching it.
6. Automatic Shutoff: The kettle will automatically shut off once the selected temperature is reached or if it runs dry (Boil-Dry Protection).
7. Serving: Carefully lift the kettle from the power base and pour. The kettle can be removed from the base at any time during the heating cycle without interrupting the program. When returned to the base, it will resume heating if the target temperature has not been reached.

Maintenance

• Cleaning the Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the stainless steel finish.

• Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. To descale:
  • Fill the kettle with a solution of 2 cups white vinegar and 2 cups water.
  • Bring the solution to a boil and let it stand for at least 30 minutes.
  • Empty the kettle and rinse thoroughly with fresh water.
