3. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for safe and efficient operation. Follow these steps carefully.

3.1 Safety First: Exhaust Venting

WARNING: The exhaust pipe must always be vented to the outside environment to prevent carbon monoxide buildup. Never operate the heater indoors without proper external exhaust ventilation.

3.2 Installation Steps

1. Prepare Mounting Surface: Ensure the heater is placed on a stable, flat surface. If mounting through a wall, ensure the cutouts for the intake and exhaust pipes are correctly sized (e.g., 1-3/8" diameter, 22" apart center-to-center for the main unit's connections).
2. Connect Exhaust Pipe: Securely attach the flexible exhaust pipe to the exhaust port on the heater using the provided clamps. Ensure a tight seal.
3. Connect Intake Pipe and Air Filter: Attach the flexible intake pipe to the intake port. Install the air filter element onto the end of the intake pipe and secure it with a clamp.
4. Install Silencer: Connect the silencer to the exhaust pipe, ensuring it is securely clamped. Note: The silencer should be installed horizontally or facing downwards to prevent condensate water from flowing back into the heater.
5. Attach Air Outlet Duct: Connect the air outlet duct to the heater's hot air outlet. Secure it with a clamp.
6. Pour Diesel Fuel: Carefully pour diesel fuel into the fuel tank. Ensure the fuel cap vent is clear of any obstructions (e.g., paper) to prevent tank deformation.
7. Connect 12V Power: Connect the heater to a 12V power source (e.g., a car battery). Ensure correct polarity: red wire to positive (+), black wire to negative (-).

4. Operating Instructions

The SILVEL Diesel Heater can be operated via its integrated LCD display or the included remote control.

4.2 Starting the Heater

1. Ensure all connections are secure and the fuel tank contains diesel.
2. Press the power button on the LCD panel or the remote control. The unit will initiate a startup sequence, including preheating the glow plug and priming the fuel pump.
3. Once started, the fan will begin blowing warm air.

4.3 Adjusting Temperature and Modes

• Use the up/down arrows on the LCD or remote to adjust the desired temperature.
• The heater typically offers manual (power level based) and automatic (temperature-based) modes. Refer to the LCD display for current mode and settings.
• Note: Temperature settings may be displayed in Celsius. Some units may allow switching to Fahrenheit, consult the display options.

4.4 Shutting Down the Heater

1. Press and hold the power button on the LCD panel or remote control to initiate shutdown.
2. The heater will enter a cool-down cycle, where the fan continues to run for a period to cool down internal components. Do not disconnect power during this cycle.
3. The unit will completely shut off once the internal components have cooled sufficiently.

• Heater Fails to Start or Shuts Off Prematurely in Cold Weather: Ensure the glow plug is functioning correctly. In extremely cold conditions, pre-warming the unit (e.g., with a small external heat source) might be necessary to aid initial ignition.
• Fuel Leaks or Tank Deformation: Verify the fuel cap vent is clear and unobstructed. A blocked vent can cause pressure issues.
• Reduced Airflow or Heating: Check the air filter for clogs and ensure all air ducts are free from obstructions or kinks.
• Unusual Noises (e.g., Fan Motor): Inspect the fan motor for any obstructions or signs of wear. If the fan motor seizes, it may require replacement.
• Exhaust Fumes Indoors: Immediately shut off the heater. Re-check all exhaust connections and ensure the exhaust pipe is properly vented outside. Never operate with exhaust fumes present indoors.
