Setup

1. Unpacking and Initial Cleaning

  • Remove all packaging materials and stickers from the appliance.
  • Clean the glass carafe, lid, and swivel filter holder with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  • Perform a preliminary rinse cycle: Fill the water tank with cold water to the MAX mark, place an empty paper filter in the filter holder, and run a brewing cycle without coffee grounds. Discard the water.

2. Positioning the Coffee Machine

  • Place the coffee machine on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance.
  • Keep the machine away from heat sources and direct sunlight.

Operating Instructions

1. Preparing to Brew Coffee

  1. Fill the Water Tank: Remove the transparent water tank from the side of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the desired number of cups indicated on the tank. Reinsert the water tank securely.

  3. Insert Filter and Coffee Grounds: Swivel the filter holder out. Place a standard paper filter (size 1x4) into the filter holder. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. For optimal taste, use approximately 6-8 grams of coffee per cup. Swivel the filter holder back into place.

  5. Place Carafe: Ensure the glass carafe with its lid is correctly placed on the warming plate.

2. Brewing Coffee

  1. Start Brewing: Plug the machine into a suitable power outlet. Press the ON/OFF switch to start the brewing process. The indicator light will illuminate.
  2. Aroma+ Function: To intensify the coffee aroma and strength, press the 'Aroma+' button before or during brewing. The corresponding indicator light will illuminate.

  4. Drip-Stop System: The integrated drip-stop system prevents coffee from dripping onto the warming plate when the carafe is removed during brewing.

  6. Keep-Warm Function: After brewing, the warming plate will automatically keep the coffee warm. The default keep-warm time is 60 minutes. You can adjust this to 20, 40, or 60 minutes using the dedicated button.

  8. Automatic Shut-off: The machine will automatically switch off after the selected keep-warm duration to save energy.

Maintenance

1. Daily Cleaning

  • After each use, unplug the machine and allow it to cool down.
  • Remove the used paper filter and discard coffee grounds.
  • Wash the glass carafe, lid, and swivel filter holder with warm soapy water. These parts are generally dishwasher-safe, but refer to the specific care instructions for your model.
  • Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the machine in water.

2. Descaling (EasyDescale3)

Regular descaling is crucial for maintaining optimal performance and extending the lifespan of your coffee machine. The EasyDescale3 function simplifies this process.

  1. The machine will indicate when descaling is necessary (e.g., via an illuminated descaling indicator).
  2. Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaling agent manufacturer's instructions. Bosch recommends using specific descaling tablets for best results.
  3. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
  4. Place the empty glass carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
  5. Press the descaling button (often indicated by three dots or a specific symbol) to start the descaling program. Follow any further instructions provided by the machine or the descaling agent.

  7. After the descaling cycle is complete, run at least two full brewing cycles with fresh, cold water to rinse the machine thoroughly. Discard the rinse water.
