Note: ChromeOS users can utilize HID functions but cannot customize the device through KensingtonWorks. Windows ARM-based computers are currently not supported for KensingtonWorks software.

3. Operation

3.1. Basic Trackball Use

3.2. DPI Settings

Adjust cursor speed using the DPI button. Four DPI settings are available: 400, 800, 1200, and 1600. Select a lower DPI for precision tasks like editing, and a higher DPI for general browsing or word processing.

3.3. 4D Scroll Wheel

The scroll wheel supports both vertical and horizontal scrolling. Horizontal scrolling functionality depends on the application's support (e.g., Excel supports it by default). KensingtonWorks software allows customization of scroll wheel tilt actions.

3.4. Multi-Device Switching

Switch between connected devices using the dedicated device selection buttons on the mouse. This allows seamless transition between a computer connected via the 2.4GHz dongle and two devices connected via Bluetooth LE.

4. Maintenance

4.1. Cleaning the Trackball

Regular cleaning of the trackball and its housing is essential for smooth operation. The TB550 features a patented ball ejection system for easy removal.

  1. Locate the trackball ejection button on the bottom of the mouse.
  2. Press the button to release the trackball.
  3. Clean the trackball and the inside of the trackball frame with a damp cloth or rubbing alcohol. Allow them to dry completely. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  4. Gently push the ball back into the socket until it clicks into place.

4.2. Lubricating the Trackball (Optional)

If the trackball feels sticky after cleaning, you may lightly lubricate it. Apply a pea-sized amount of non-acidic lotion (such as Vaseline) to the palms of your hands. Roll the trackball across the lotion on your hands until it is evenly lubricated. Reinsert the ball into the mouse. Roll the ball around in the socket until it moves freely.

Clean the exterior of the mouse and your work surface weekly to maintain a hygienic and productive workspace.
